Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace o2 sensor...light went off' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace ...so what else should i look at' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Sorry I misread your post, I thought you just replaced the sensor just now.

Suggestion
Just clear the codes after you replace the bad sensor then drive the car for a few days and see if CEL pops up again.

Suggestion
If not, you will have to do some trouble shooting using a multimeter at the bank2 precat connector to further diagnose it if that is a new sensor already.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had read through some similar issues people posted on other sites...they mentioned replacement of O2 sensor, but were still getting CEL....ended up being mass air flow sensor.
Hello everyone. I recently purchased a 2000 911 Carrera S with 51,000 miles. The check engine light came on soon after...diagnosis said oxygen sensor. Replaced the O2 sensor...light went off. About a week later...light came on again...same steady light.
I'm wondering if it may be a mass air flow sensor? Any recommendations? Also, what's the best place you've found for parts?
Thank you!
Duane
Interesting....well, it's a 200 model year...911...has Carrera S on the engine lid lol Everything looks stock...but perhaps it was an add on...has rear spoiler. Not sure of the codes...had shop run - they said came up as O2 sensor. I haven't taken back for new diagnosis.

Yes someone stuck a S badge on your car. Porsche philes will ridicule you and so you could elect to remove it :-)
Anyway may I suggest before swapping parts out for no reason goto a local auto parts store and they will read the actual code for you for free. Post it here
Good looking car. Where are you located? Somebody with a reader or Durametric could probably help you out. If not, you can get a bluetooth reader that works with your phone for less than $20.
Welcome and congratulations on your car. As others have said, get the exact codes and post them here. People will be able and willing to help you.
You can get the codes read for free at most auto parts chains like Autozone or Advanced Auto. Buying your own ODBII code reader will be a good investment and you can get one for as little as $50.
Enjoy your new ride and good luck!
Great! Thanks for the advice and help everyone...I really appreciate the responses. I'll work on getting the codes. Thanks again! By the way, I'm in CA.
Hello everyone. Purchased a code reader, and ended up with the code P0154 for O2 sensor.
Had O2 sensor replaced...so what else should I look at? Thanks!
Thanks! That's the thing...I had the O2 sensor replaced, and I assume they cleared the codes after replacement. Within a week...the CEL came on...and I get the code P0154 for O2 sensor. So...I can clear the code...see if it happens again. If so...what next? Thanks!
Sorry I misread your post, I thought you just replaced the sensor just now. Anyway, P0154 is bank2 sensor 1 (i.e., precat sensor). Can your scanner read O2 sensor voltage in real-time?
If so, you can read and compare the 4 O2 sensor readings. If not, you will have to do some trouble shooting using a multimeter at the bank2 precat connector to further diagnose it if that is a new sensor already. You may have a wiring problem that leads to a short.
Ok...great information. Yes...just realized there are 4 O2 sensors...2 on drivers side (1 before cat and 1 after cat); and 2 on passenger side (1 before and 1 after cat). Thank you!
