Hello everyone!
My name is Alex and I'm a new owner of a 2000 Porsche Carrera 911! I've been looking at getting a 996 for a while now and took a look a few, but finally found the right one about two weeks ago(Drove 6 hours down to NC to get it and back up to VA). So far, I love the car! My previous car that I used for a DD was a 2013 Subaru BRZ. Even though the BRZ was a great car, I felt it was lacking in a lot of areas and decided to sell it. I was looking at getting a Porsche Cayman S, but it was a tad out of my price range. I'm only 23, but I work hard to pay for my car addiction! I'm a pretty active car enthusiast and I am a local SCCA member and a newly PCA member. I've been autocrossing my 1998 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS for about 6 years now(My first car when I was 17 and I still own it today).
A little bit about the car though, it is currently at 92k miles, but was well maintained and garaged kept by the previous owner and PCA member. All of the major services has been completed, including IMS bearing at 75k miles. The car drives fantastic and the exterior and interior are practically flawless. Pictures don't do the paint job justice since it's a black car though.
And here is a picture of me autocrossing my Impreza.
But I'm excited to be here and this site really helped me make the right choice with all of the useful threads about the RMS, IMS, ect. and I hope to continue to learn more as I own the car!
Thanks!
Very nice car, congrats! Subaru BRZ is great, too. When I bought my 996, I went back and forth mentally... new BRZ, warranty, etc., or used 996. I went with the 996. Don't regret it at all!
Awesome and thanks! After owning the BRZ for 2 years, it is a fun car to drive, but the 996 feels much more superior in power and handling, so I feel as though I've made the right choice!
Congratulations with your "new" 996... Looks great.
If you look after it and treat it nicely you will have lots of fun driving it and especially as I can see you got yourself a manual gear version... (best option in my opinion)
Like the black whls ! ---makes for a complete stealthy look

Very nice indeed... I also have a MY00 and I really like the white-face gauge you have, was that an option for that year? You do have a lot of options with this car, that's cool. Let's the Mods begin :-) Enjoy your new car. Cheers,
Thanks for the welcome everyone!
Where is this being held at? I'll definitely try to make it if I don't have plans. I'm going to try to see if I can make it out to the TSCC autocross this month to "get the feel" of this car. Even though it won't be my autox car, I still want to try it out, just like I did when I got my BRZ. I've seen your Boxster out at Pungo a lot! I haven't taken the Impreza out there in about a year since I've been working on it.
At first I wasn't sure what they were until I looked it up, but it is an option.

It's at ACU4 the 17th, and the autocross is the 18th which is why I asked- figured you'd want to take some time to get used to it. I'm going to be flogging my Boxster, too; I want to tweak tire pressures on the skidpad and work on my oversteer control, and T&T is a great chance. You're unfortunately a bit late to register, as we've hit the registration cap, but there's always a few no shows and there's a very good chance you could get in if you show up Saturday. Make sure you sign up for the autocross and get on the access list, today's the last day for that, too!

Congrats, especially at 23. Had 4 imprezas in the past too. Nice 22b style ride. Really wish I still kept my gc8 Prodrive style ride. Member 150 on Nasioc.
I like the full supple leather with red stitching. Looks nice. The GC8 is definitely a great autocross car. I think you'll find that the 996 is as well.
Dang, I didn't see your post until the morning. I guess it's too late for this months autox. Although this will give me more time to get used to the car a little bit more, but I will definitely be on top of the registration for the June event.
Wow, #150! I'm Member#: 196,012, lol. I love the GC style Imprezas!
I hope so! The 996 has a lot more power and the handling seems great on daily roads from what I can tell. Definitely a whole different machine than the Impreza, but I'm sure I can adjust to it. I've got a good feel of RWD from my BRZ, but with the 996 being a rear engine car, that will be something new to me.
Ah well! We've got ODR coming up @ Pungo June 1st is the next local event. TSCC will be having a cone clinic/novice school June 14th @ ACU4; you might want to keep an eye out for that, too. Then the autocross June 15th. Registration opens & closes really early for ACU4 events, btw.
Grip Syndicate's got a time trial at NCCAR tomorrow, too; top speeds about 100mph. Maybe not the best time to try to get used to your car, lol. I think they're sold out, but there are always no-shows to events like this.
