Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, after a few years with Cayennes and a 944 Turbo (still have) I had to get rid of the big suv. I got this, IMS done around 13k miles about 10 years ago... Here she is. This is Porsche number 6 for me, but first 911, I love it so far. Headlight washer cap is missing...have a replacement on order. Red hardback sports seats, red seat belts, and I already took out the rear seats Looking for ideas on wheel color on guards red 996's...post em' up. Here is a few pics of my new baby....edit can't seem to post. I'll figure that out later.

POST 3Original post

You're saying the IMSB was done 10 years ago? Was an aftermarket bearing even available then?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think it was a OEM one as it (IMS) was done at a Porsche Dealer in New England.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Point of post, any guards red 996 with different color wheels? (gold, black, yellow, etc? ) Thanks in advanced

POST 6Original post

She's a looker, congrats! I had a 99 996 race car in red and it looked good with polished Fikse's and it also looked good with CCW classics with Matt black centers and polished lips.

POST 7Original post

Great looking rig you got there. Right color and everything.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lol Thanks all....might sound crazy, but I'm thinking of Plasti-Dipping my wheels gold/bronze, just for some cheap fun that is 100% reversible. Thoughts?

You sure it wasn't the RMS? Porsche didn't even admit the IMS was replaceable until LN engineering and Flat Six came up with the procedure a few years ago. Nice car!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes positive it stated IMS replacement in the carfax. RMS was done about 40k miles.

POST 11Original post

Maybe ims flange but I doubt they replaced the bearing itself or shaft 10 yrs ago But regardless don't worry about it- very small percentage of failure - enjoy in good health!

POST 12Original post

Btw I think the best color wheels for your car is silver Otherwise find a wheel that you can emulate below - silver edge with black center
