Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just happened to run across that iSimple product online a bit before I saw this thread, so I thought I'd mention it.

I'll be using car for more daily use so Bluetooth calls is most important.

I don't want to install a new radio, would like to use existing original system (Bose, Nav).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been researching quite a bit online for a Bluetooth option for my '04 C4S. I see the options of installing a new Bluetooth stereo or add a Bluetooth car kit (attached to radio/AUX or FM station). I don't want to install a new radio, would like to use existing original system (Bose, Nav). I'll be using car for more daily use so Bluetooth calls is most important. Streaming music from phone would be a nice addition.

thanks!
I use a Garmin GPS unit with Bluetooth. Works fine for phone usage. Has it's own speaker/mic. Obviously does not use your car speakers and no phone music streaming, but for my purposes it does the job. Has all my contacts, tells me who is calling and cost less than $200 at Costco. You already have nav, so redundant, but your data base is probably older and Garmin is cheap to update vs. OEM equipment . Other members that are more tech savvy will chime in with better solutions.
Hi Serg,
I have been looking into solutions recently for the same setup in my 2002 996 and can share my findings.
Bought a 3.5mm cable
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/3.5-BKRCD.html
here, works great.
Thinking of adding this
http://www.belkin.com/us/F4U037-Belkin/p/P-F4U037/
hidden under the dash with it's own power supply to add bluetooth phone call and music playback handsfree.
The only difference in our two systems, and it's a big one, is you have fiber optics if I am not mistaken.
which would also give you PCM 2... If so there is surely a solution to get the 3.5mm jack hooked up to your system (the Belkin bluetooth module says the same for both cars)
I wanted to keep the BOSE/Old school NAV working and the look of the original head unit.
I'll keep you posted as soon as I install the Belkin BT unit..
Miles
Thanks, Miles. I was looking at those 2 exact links as well actually.. also was looking at:
Amazon.com: Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - supports aptX: Cell Phones & Accessories
Amazon.com: Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - supports aptX: Cell Phones & Accessories
So you'll have both installed? Definitely let me know how it works out for you. I'd like to get something done sooner rather than later..and agree want to keep look of original head unit.
Serg
No experience with it at all... I put in a Pioneer head unit with aBluetooth/iPod interface and a custom integrated iPad mini. I just happened to run across that iSimple product online a bit before I saw this thread, so I thought I'd mention it.

These guys are in the middle of development of a Bluetooth adaptor for CDR-23 units with fiber optics connection. They might put it out this year at a price of between $200 and $300. From what i understand you would still need to send the unit to them for the AUX IN install and than plug the bluetooth unit into that. Don't know if this is the best, considering that jack is mono from my understanding, but it will be better than any FM modulator. I've had three or four and after a certain period of time i'd just give up on them as it turns into frustration endlessly looking for a frequency without static.
Anyhow, you can call these guys at Becker for additional info, i think i am gonna wait for this to come out and check it out. It may the best and the simplest solution, but we will see.
I've been using the Belkin unit above in my other car (Jaguar XJR) since it's head unit is almost impossible to replace. Have been really happy with it. I still have the factory setup with the AUX port in my 996.
