Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

All of the touchless car washes I have ever used don't have wheel tracks, so that may not be an issue.
Leading evidence: 'Use don't have wheel tracks' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'hard wax' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean dry and free of any thing' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

With the hard top in position I use the under car blast to shift any winter road salt before removing the hard top for the summer.

Suspected cause
Speaking more to the car wash process proper, the issue is the soap can be harsh and the rinse water laced with liquid wax, which my body/paint expert tells me is probably a hard wax which he feels is not the best wax to use.

Suggestion
The top fabric wants to be kept clean, dry and free of any thing that could interfere with the flow or air through it.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Is it possible to wash a Cab in a stationary touch less car wash? Pros and cons? I know the top must be totally dry before lowering it. Any recommendations for a top dressing or other things to be aware of?
Thanks in advance for your insights.
It is possible but my info is it is not a good thing.
There is the issue of clearance under the car -- a co-worker drove his new 'vette into one of these -- off of I-70 in Utah -- and the car got hung up due to lack of clearance -- and there is too the concern the wheels could suffer scuffing/damage from rubbing against the tire guides.
So, I would not advise one to use one of these for his Cab. (I do not use one with either my Boxster or Turbo.)

Also, the wax gets applied in the water and this gets sprayed on the top. The top fabric wants to be kept clean, dry and free of any thing that could interfere with the flow or air through it. The water proof material is a rubber sheet under the fabric top and it wants to be kept dry to avoid mold/mildew setting in that could compromise the rubber sheet's service life.
All of the touchless car washes I have ever used don't have wheel tracks, so that may not be an issue.
As Macster said, any waxes used in the rinsing process are probably not good for the top.
But, I don't think an occasional use of a touchless would be too detrimental to the top fabric.
You might experience some water leaking past your top seals though, so be prepared to do some minor interior wipe down.
The best idea would be to seal the top fabric first with Ragg Top or similar treatment for better resistance against soap and waxes.
100% Hand Wash 100% of the time. I used to take my old XK8 to the "high end" touchless car washes around here. After 2 years I had plenty of rim scuffs and swirl marks to show for it. I'd rather have a dirty car than a scratched up car...so I learned patience.
Self service wash is where its at. $1.00 gets you 4 minutes of water, foam, brush and a free work out. $5.00 is my monthly budget for Porsche washing, so she will get washed at least once for sure.
Hand wash only, for me.
It also gets me up close to the car to look it over for potential leaks, tire condition, etc.

Hand-wash for my 996 Cab only and +1 on the soft-top sealing with Ragg top product, a must to protect your the top fabric from harsh environments (UV, tree saps, acid rain and bird drops etc...) IMHO. Cheers,
