Sliver with black interior with Nav/carbon fiber/6 speed/gt wing and BBS wheels looks like a really clean car but they are stuck at $26k for it?
The aero kit is nice, and if it is a super clean, superb condition car in an interior/exterior color combo you love, pay the extra money for a super clean car.

If you pay $27K and can drive, change the oil, put in gas and pay insurance then it is a great deal.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am looking at a 99 Aero with 36k miles two owner with no records so don't know if IMS is done either. Sliver with black interior with Nav/carbon fiber/6 speed/gt wing and BBS wheels looks like a really clean car but they are stuck at $26k for it? I was wanting a 40th but love the look of the aero I just wish it was yellow. Frank
$26k is on the high side but it is offset by the options, low mileage, aero package, etc.
Does it have sport seats and LSD too?
I can see someone that specifically wants a double row, aero with low miles paying close to that. My $.02
I bought my 99 C4 Aero w/ 82k miles about 5 months ago for $18k. Black w/ Boxster Red interior. Factory Aero/heated sport seats, nav/carbon fiber/6 speed/M030/19" Forgestar wheels, etc. Window sticker shows original dealer list at $99.5k.
When I asked about the IMS, his response was "What's that?"
It's a nice car. I think I got it cheap. I'd have certainly paid more.
I paid 22k for mine a couple of months ago.... Its a 1999 yellow C2 with factory aero kit.. Almost like a GT3 MK1 replica... Mine has LSD, traction control, sports seats, aluminum package, 18" 2 piece BBS factory wheels, and around $15k (retail) worth of aftermarket upgrades.. Mine had 51k when I bought it and also I am the 3rd owner... Remember that 99's have double row IMS bearings and they fail less than single row. The only other big flaw I see on these cars is the Intermix problems...
I need more details on the car, is the Aero factory? what other options does it have? how is the condition overall? any accidents? Any aftermarket parts? I would say the car is worth from 22k-25k
Here is my initial introduction with the car

Thank you for the websites. This car has a factory gt kit on it and has a ton of carbon fiber options and the 18in wheels that I do like. I wish it had sport seats. I think this car is worth $22k the most am I off on the vaule, I think $27k they are asking is really high? Frank
I see it has the XAA options which means it had the Aero kit from factory. It does not have Limited Slip Differential (LSD) which is code 220.

$5K is not a huge amount to invest in these cars depending on what it needs. If you pay $27K and can drive, change the oil, put in gas and pay insurance then it is a great deal. But...that is not usually the case. Little things like seals to big things like needing an IMS are big expenses. If you are really serious get a good PPI and then deduct all the repairs from the price.
Very nice list of options and you will love that aerokit. The asking price is a little bit high but you can negotiate depending on PPI results and/or have LN bearings/RMS done as part of deal. Cheers,
Interesting car, should be an eyecatcher.
Price wise it has low miles, but no records. Is there a Carfax or similar to backup the mileage and do the hours logged in the DME align?
Now is where my opinions on 99's come out. My take on the plusses of 99's are that they are the 996's with less. Less weight (a bit not a lot), less electronic intervention and less inside wheel slip. The (my opinion) best of 99's will have LSD (that's less wheel slip) and are a bit rawer than later cars. This car does not. Your starting point - the 40AE - has LSD too, and lots of appearance options.
$27k can get you a newer car with records.
I though they where asking 26k, but if they are asking 27k then they are nuts.. 36k miles is almost a new car and considering this, I would say its worth at most 24k.
They are asking $27k but will only come down to $26k, I was thinking $22k because any more than that I rather spend the 6k to 8k more and buy a 2004 40th. Frank
6 years I bought my 99 C4 Aero just South of $30K with 52,000 miles. If the car is what you say it is I would not think twice. If you are having a hard time coughing up the other 4K than you should not buy the car.
a 40th edition for 30k? good luck finding it at that price...
Here is a good priced, good option aero car

To me, all the very-expensive-when-new interior cosmetic items do little or nothing for a 15 year old car... Often making it look
more
dated. At least it's carbon instead of some of the hideous wood trims they put in our cars. And the ancient nav and cd changer system? Worthless.... Soft look seats also add to the dated look IMHO.
The aero kit is nice, and if it is a super clean, superb condition car in an interior/exterior color combo you love, pay the extra money for a super clean car. But not because it has all that extra crap on it...
+1
The only options i would really go for is the aero kit and the interioi/exterior color combination.. Interior trim like aluminum or carbon would me my choice and a 3 spoke steering wheel is a must..

+1, True about the old NAV system on the older 996, kinda useless w no updated maps. I have the factory NAV on my 2000 Cab but franfly I have never used it for actual directions but I do like the large screen for the trip-computer related info. Cheers,
