When stripping my car for weight reduction a few years ago I discarded my door speakers. Now I'm trying to add back my stereo and need to purchase new speaker enclosures. My car is a 1999 C2 coupe with the "hi fi" upgrade. I forgot which door speakers I need. It looks like there are two different types (pics at the bottom). Also while on the topic of door speakers would anyone be able to recommend a decent set of replacement speakers? So far I have replaced the dash and rear speakers with JL Audio C2-400X uisng this kit from 9XX: http://www.jmgshop.com/porsche-boxst...kers-152-p.asp I'd like to keep the stock amp and wiring setup; so basically I'd like a door speaker that's plug and play. Also I'm not looking to spend a lot of money or add an additional non-oem subwoofer enclosure. The car is a weekend track rat/canyon carver, so it has all of the carpeting removed and is LOUD. I just need a decent set of speakers to drown out the engine noise every so often..... Any suggestions? Thanks

Polk Audio DB651S's fit - remove the old speaker and dremel for a couple of minutes then screw and epoxy the new speaker in. You need shallow speakers, but 6.5" speakers will fit. JL Audio probably has comparable size speakers. Polk speakers are pretty efficient - 92DB sensitivity. The stock amp is not very powerful so that can matter. My '99 came with the same system as yours and like you I progressed through the upgrade process starting with the speakers. I can provide cutting and assembly pix if you ask.

I just bought some Tang Bands . Post #30 here talks about the necessary mod to get them in. They are a bit too deep.
