Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am looking at a 1999 996 built in 1998 that just had the Vertex IMS retrofit with pressurized oil feed installed (IMS Eternal Fix).

So what I guess I am getting down to is would anyone keep this modification, change oil and drive regularly and watch for issues as one would normally do?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

A replacement bearing from ANYONE is still not a 100% guaranty that your engine will not someday fail.

I am not even sure who actually makes this, EPS? Googling around, looks like people are asking about it but no post experience.
I would have prefered the Flat 6 / LN Engineering update, but this is what the car just got.
Car has about 80k on it.
So I was wondering what experience others may have had with this version of the "fix." I have read I think from Jake that they felt the oil feed method was not the way to go after experimenting.

Or would you not bother and take this one out and do another (Again I am biased towards Flat 6 / LNs Modifications)
Or just look for a car that has had neither an find one to do that work that I want done.
Thanks!
If you intend to keep the car a long while, I would go for the extra confidence of buying one that has not been retrofitted and then installing the LNE IMS, new clutch, RMS, etc., for removal of doubt.

Is this the white one on eBay?
If so, it might be the best 996 buy of all time.
As far as IMS replacement there is very little long term data on any of them. Remember, it took years for them to start showing up on the 996's and 986's. The LN retrofit had the most. But if the car comes with the EPS one, I would take it and not worry. I have not read about any failures with it on any of the forums and usually negative experiences show up first.
I would not change it. Your best bet is frequent oil changes (3k-5K) make certain your oil level is always topped off and drive it regularly. A replacement bearing from ANYONE is still not a 100% guaranty that your engine will not someday fail. Chances are it will not fail. Reading these threads will only enforce the belief of eminent impending doom.
Nope, not the white one.
While I like white, I can't stand the blue interiors
I had a silver 944 S2 Cabrio with that color, thought I could get over it but I ended up swapping it for a black interior.
