I agree, in terms of "ease of use" Boxster was very forgiving.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone, I would be much more frequent visitor/contributor to 996 section now lol Took a while to get first 996 (2001, 39k), traded in my Boxster for it. Would be DD for my wife (Britax child seat already installed, daughter loves it). I have to admit that I am already addicted and would be looking for second one for myself very soon.
Looks good vaulter.
How would you say it compares to your former Boxster?
I'm interested in people's comparison between Porsche's rear engine vs their mid engine products.
I too moved from a Boxster (986) to a 996. The Boxster is a tremendous car, and is so forgiving compared to the 996. It is much easier to be overconfident in the Boxster - when you enter corners too fast, you just scrub off some tire and live happily ever after.
I love my 911 and will keep it forever, but I will probably acquire another Boxster or a Cayman...
Thank you so much guys!!!I Looks like I am with 911's long term - I just simply love everything about it.
I really loved my Boxster too and was very happy with it, except my family got bigger and it was spending a lot of time in garage as it's only had 2 seats. I already miss it... Now Britax is mounted and we are ready for some fun
I agree, in terms of "ease of use" Boxster was very forgiving. Best handling vehicle I ever owned (MR2 Spyder was great also), you can definitely get an impression from driving it that you are a better driver then you actually is lol . Carrera feels like a bit bigger, more "stable" car, but very, very capable - I just need to learn how to drive it....
I feel like sharing an update
Put >20k miles on Arena Red one in 6 month. Love it! My primary family car / daily driver.
Drove it through all winter and snow (on Boxster wheels). The only issue was a left front wheel bearing going out - started squeaking. Put a low miles wheel carrier assembly in place ($100 from junkyard, 1 hour of work) and it's all great! I now have also 2 replacement bearings and a special tool sitting in garage lol
