Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Check tires' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check tires' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Does the noise change when you gently press on the brakes?

Suggestion
Mine used to tick at start up and I would occasionally hear it at idle until I started using Chevron/Shell (highest octane).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

When I come to a rolling stop I hear a tapping sound. It stops as soon as the car comes to a complete stop. I would sort do describe it as valve tapping. Any idea? Car is fine on oil.
If you put your car to neutral before rolling to a stop, you can hear better if the tapping frequency correlates with the engine idling speed or the slowing down wheels. Just a thought.
Hey guys my car makes a noise when I drive it, what could it be?
If you ask twenty questions I might tell you what type/model/year car and if the noise seems to come from engine, trans, suspension and maybe other data that could help with diagnosis, but you have to ask first.
Nope. I tried putting it in neutral like Ahsai suggested and not change. Rev'd the engine while rolling and it stops. Seems to only be rolling at idle. Weird.
Maybe it's my IMS/RMS ticking time bomb...
The RMS doesn't tick and I doubt it's the IMS.
Is it constant or does it go away after the car warms up? Also, how many tanks of gas have you gone through since you started hearing the sound? Mine used to tick at start up and I would occasionally hear it at idle until I started using Chevron/Shell (highest octane). No issues after that.
OK twenty questions.
What year is it? Is it a c4? Do you hear the noise when rolling to a stop with the engine off? Does the noise change when you gently press on the brakes? When you hear the noise, while rolling to a stop, do you feel any vibration in the pedals, seat, center console, steering wheel, gear shift?
When you start out from a stop do you feel/hear a single thunk?
Does the tapping noise seem to cycle with tire rotation or does it follow the engine speed.
To fpb111 - those are all the best questions and if the OP is not going to even try investigating your tips this is pointless. To the OP - if you do not understand your car or the questions, take your car to a reputable tire shop or mechanic and have it checked. Jack it up and start checking, or just drive it until something breaks and then you will know exactly which part it is (not recommended).
"My car is making a tapping noise - what do you suppose could be wrong?" With several hundred mechanical parts making a car go, this one is like shooting in the dark.....
