Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

About four weeks ago I got this 996 cab in a business deal. Wasn't looking but it looked like a good one. 29,625 miles on the clock plus 500 I've managed to log.
First on the agenda was a trip to Hitec Auto in San Rafael. They are terrific! Full 60K maintenance was done while they invited me to look over their shoulder. Every guy there is an enthusiast. When the filter was cut open there was one tiny piece of chain race and no metal whatsoever. Next a full front clip clear bra was installed including the windshield frame. Next a full Lexol interior and a hand waxed exterior was done by yours truly.
What I realized after I got it was that it's broadly speaking, a throw back to my youth when at 24 I stumbled onto a two seater, 300HP, silver Ferrari that became my daily driver for a couple of years. (5000 down and 185 per month). Yeah they're completely different animals but "two seater, silver, etc" makes them alike in my memory.
Although I love the much higher performance 996-997 TT and mod'ed rides I see here, this one gives me what I need. Light mods coming, no rush.
Well, one Sunday in Dallas in 1974 or so I was looking in the newspaper for a Fiat 124 like I'd owned prior. Cars were listed by brand but Ferrari's and Fiat's did not have a section and were listed under "other sports cars" or something like that. I was calling the Fiat ad but called the number for the ad above it by accident. The guy that answered had a 330GTS Ferrari for sale. He was the second owner with 31,000 mi. After a short talk he got me over to look at it. I had 5K and he said he'd take it with payments for the rest. The state of Texas didn't list Ferrari's at the time for insurance company's. My insurance was less than 200 per year. :0) Window sticker was in the glove box for, I think, $13,xxx. One of 100 with factory air and no radio. Yes I know what it's worth now, but the ride of a lifetime for a lucky young guy. I had it about two years before selling at a loss. Many more stories before I sold it, take that to the bank.
