Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I also replaced the OEM suspension with a used USM030 suspension at around 40k miles.

Suggestion
I'm ready to do another oil and filter change(and I always cut open the filter to inspect for metal particles).

And then in 2015 I'll replace the brake discs+pads.

I am not sorry to spend the money tho as I now have a car that looks pristine and has known upgrades and maintenance which gives confidence in using the car for long distance trips.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Today marks 365 days since I purchased my 2002 Targa last April. Having owned 3 other Porsches previously I entered into this ownership realizing that purchase price was just the beginning. I racked up just a smidge under 8k miles the past 12 months and my out of pocket expenses were $60 for a DIY oil and filter change. Still running on the original IMS and clutch at 70k miles I hope to address these issues this summer. I've budgeted $2,500 as my annual service and repairs guesstimate. I hope the next 4-5 years are as kind as the first has been.
Congratulations. I am at about 9 months on my '01 C4 cab.
I note your username (porsche951). I too own/owned other Porsches, three of which were 944s, one of those being an S2.
I have spent more on my 996 than I have on any one of my other cars, but most of it was cosmetic and maintenance. Not so much repairs. I think I am at about $3.7K total.

Nice to hear the 1st year went well. I've only added about 32k miles since my purchase back in 2006, but I haven't faced any expensive repairs yet and am still on my original clutch and IMSB with 67k miles showing overall.I've replaced one front wheel bearing, a coolant tank, front pads and rotors, tires of course, an alignment, new MAF, brake fluid change, and many oil filters and gallons of synthetic oil. I'm ready to do another oil and filter change(and I always cut open the filter to inspect for metal particles). I'm due for plugs and brake fluid change and may be replacing the water pump soon. I also replaced the OEM suspension with a used USM030 suspension at around 40k miles. Still enjoy my C2 coupe and look forward to adding more miles and smiles.
I've had my 99 almost a year now, 8000 miles and not a problem, except passenger window regulator. Two oil changes , one when I got it and one at 5000.
Can these cars actually be reliable.
My beloved 996 Mk I cabrio now has 72K w/original IMS/RMS/AOS/Clutch, too; but I think 2014 will be my year to have "the big one" done. And then in 2015 I'll replace the brake discs+pads.
So far, most of my mntce. costs occured between 60-70K miles; i.e., new coolant tank, water pump, some small misc. stuff.
While conceding my car lives a sheltered life (I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee as my beater/wife drives a Mercedes, of course), I consider it to be very reliable and economically to own and, given its high performance level, a pleasure to drive. Hard to believe its now some 15 years old.
