Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

But I should have checked here first before going to RAC, lesson learned.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The day started out just fine; 60+ degrees, sun shining, only a short "honey do" list, but...the top would not retract. When I push the dash button in, I hear a faint relay clicking sound as the dash light goes on steady red, and then starts blinking, and finally extinguishes completely. (All windows had been lowered in anticipation of top down motoring.) Any thoughts/remedies will be appreciated...kind of hate the idea of taking it to the dealer and saying "Please fix it". relinuca

POST 2Original post

make sure the rear hatch is closed (and the limit switch is made) It's a place to start...

POST 3Original post

+1 it happened to me when I just got my cab...I went to RAC in Dallas to have them take a look at my non-opening soft top then 2 min later they came out and said "all set, you are good to go, your rear engine lid was not fully latched, no charge". I felt so dump but relieved, great guys... But I should have checked here first before going to RAC, lesson learned. PO, check your rear boot first before doing anything else. Cheers,

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, both frisbee91 and Botsy67 hit the nail on the head...my engine compartment lid was unlatched. (See pg. 98 of owner's manual.) Geez, just when I thought I understood my 996 thoroughly. Oh, well... relinuca
