I've decided to sell my '99 996 for a fraction of its value even though it is running just fine.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's been fun for almost 8 years of 996 ownership, but the time has come. Tired of hearing about constant IMSB failures, oil debates, tire choices, maintenance intervals, and ... did I mention the headlights? I've decided on a new GMC that only has some minor ignition switch issues and some fire related problems that seem to be minor when compared to Porsche ownership. I've decided to sell my '99 996 for a fraction of its value even though it is running just fine. No more worries for me...

POST 2Original post

Come on Steve...say it ain't so. I'm on a exploratory drug going for FDA approval soon. It cures symptoms for bi-polar IMSbolism, makes you think it is ok to wear crocs, makes you see 20-20 again but makes your eyeballs turn yellow and it is high in fiber..makes me do a constitutional every 15 minutes. Want some?

POST 3Original post

Now if they could only concoct something that made you not say "fine example", "added a car to the stable", "drove some new hardware"......the world would be a better place.

POST 4Original post

Poor excuse for selling your car. Enjoy your chevy

POST 6Original post

Let me know if you have any unicorn semen left or if you still have a supply of synthetic blinker fluid. Both are getting next to impossible to find now. I know your GMC won't be needing it. PM me with a price and availability.

POST 7Original post

It is funny that you bring this up Steve. Just last night my wife and I decided to sell my 996 as well. We are moving into a Nissan Leaf. I just cannot justify continually harming our sensitive environment with this audacious "sports car". I will have the add up in the marketplace in a few days.

POST 9Original post

I'll start the bidding at $1 Bob. It's a ticking time bomb, really I'm just doing you a favor.....

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How could I leave all you water pumper owners after only 8 years? Sorry I couldn''t come up with something better today....jamren is da winnah!

POST 12Original post

I thought maybe you were going to shack up with KrazyK and spend all of your time under him, er, I mean, under his 996.

POST 13Original post

Good one Steve. I knew after the second sentence that it could not be true. My two 996s have been the most dependable cars that I have ever owned.

POST 14Original post

Had us going for a minute, Steve! We can't lose a member of the '99 club!

POST 15Original post

I knew it... not you Steve. Unless you were trading it in for a motorhome... Glad you are keeping her.

POST 16Original post

Not understanding the concerns here: o IMSB - there is a solution for this. o oil debate - use whatever you want o maintenance interval - again perform maintenance whenever you want 996 is such a beautiful car IMHO!

POST 17Original post

NO, way! Don't tell me your buying a Prius.........Christ, I might volunteer to fix your IMS.........

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Amazing how much love still exists on this forum. Thanks guys for your replies. There is no Prius in my future....ever!

POST 19Original post

Steve: I was speaking with a Toyota saleswoman today (looking for a new car for my wife) and she is going to send you a Prius key.............see if it fits.......lol.

POST 20Original post

Steve Here I am thinking that while you love your car to pieces but just decided to buy a Chevy Cobalt...

POST 22Original post

For starting this thread, you should buy and drive this Prius as penance http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Prius...-/301141837913

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

^^^ My Dad owns one and unfortunately, I drove it almost 5 years ago from the mtns. of NC to Florida, that's the last time I ever drove one.

POST 24Original post

What the hell is leaking out the back of your car? Oil? Coolant? Halogen fluid? Damn you man...trade that car in for that Prius before it grenades!!!!!!

POST 25Original post

haha...I admit I first thought NOOOOO, then it hit me....second best April Fools joke of the day!

POST 26Original post

I knew it was a joke before I even read the thread!
