Suggestion · Original poster
I had the option to drive a newer Lamborghini, but I chose the Ferrari after watching the Lambo run a few laps.

I coach with Imagine Lifestyles and they run a similar program (3 lap autox course ) with Lambos 560 and 570, Ferrari 430s.

But I ended up returning it because when she gave the certificate it had two conditions set by HER.......No sky diving and no motorcycle racing which were two of the options.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

UPDATE: Today was the day! I wound up driving an F360 Spider. I was anticipating newer hardware, but it was a treat to drive nonetheless.
Thanks to Mrs. Schnell for an awesome Christmas gift: 5 lap autocross-type event in a Ferrari or Lamborghini. The site unfortunately does not list the specific model, but it doesn't matter - it'll be whatever Lamborghini they have. Might as well go over the top.
Has anyone used this specific provider before? Online reviews (Yelp) of Xtremeadventures are positive, but light on details.
That's an awesome gift. My wife had got me the same thing from cloud9 two years ago but that package had about 10 different things that I could choose to do and doing laps on a track with an exotic car was one them. But I ended up returning it because when she gave the certificate it had two conditions set by HER.......No sky diving and no motorcycle racing which were two of the options.

I coach with Imagine Lifestyles and they run a similar program (3 lap autox course ) with Lambos 560 and 570, Ferrari 430s. They do not allow and shifting (full auto mode) and one sport settings or use of launch control. We run the cars all day (8-5) with only stops for gas and occasional brake pads. Some days we have over 500 customers run through the cars.
We get to drive occasionally to give rides to kids or those who want to see what these cars are really capable of.
UPDATE: Finally did the drive this morning - photo posted in original post above.
What a treat - the F360 is a very nice little car. Of the cars there, this is the one I felt would be the best drive given how tight the course was. The Lamborghini (not shown) was just running up and down 1st gear...I at least got to click through the first three gears on the Spider. Once the handler in the passenger seat realized that I had at least some idea what I was doing, he relaxed and let me have some fun.
I approve...
Sounds like fun. I've considered making a move to a 360. How would you compare the performance to a 996? BTW, if you want to see some parallel universe type stuff, browse the 360 section at ferrarichat and watch people complain about dropping values and lack of respect from other Ferrari owners.
I don't remember any SCCA AX champions running in Civics, and I don't see many Civics running in the PCA X-class.
I imagine their preference is to keep speeds a little low.
I did a similar event early last year and drove a F-430. Great car. Then I bought my wife some track time in a 997...
..
.then I had to buy her a Porsche.
(there's a lesson in there somewhere)
lol
The 360 is a nice little car, but, like the 996, it doesn't stack up to the current generation of supercars.
It took the cone course well - very neutral, like my Boxster. I toolishly plowed into a couple of corners while still braking hard, and even with ABS pulsing, I didn't kill any cones.
I don't know what the price point is for a 360, but I can see why those folks with newer Ferraris might mistreat it. My mildly modified Corvette accelerates as quickly, and my Porsche turns just as well.
The 996 doesn't make as much power according to the specs, but the peak difference (100HP) sure doesn't seem as significant as you imagine it would.
I have not driven a 996 with a standard suspension setup (my suspension is aftermarket adjustable everything), so I can't comment on how a stock 996 handles compared to the 360. The 360 was very responsive, even nimble.
Since the location of this drive is pretty much the middle of nowhere, I was able to leave the Ferrari driving event, hop in my 996, and rip through the gears on my way home, and my car still felt very satisfying compared to what I'd just driven.
Feel free to call BS - but I don't think I would have traded my 996 for the 360 I drove. The Ferrari was a nice car, but looking at my 996 still makes me happy. (I think that if I met the 10-year-old me, he'd be pretty damn pleased about the car we wound up with.
)
I looove my car (one of my friend's favorite stories is when he called me one night at about 9:30 and asked what I was doing and I responded "standing in my garage staring at my car") but there is something about that 360 that just makes me swoon. Just got back from ripping my car around the back roads and I love it. Not sure I would make the change and the lack of a rear seat for my boys in the 360 matters a lot to me, they love the 996.
I did one of these events and drove the Gellardo and Porsche 997 turbo.
It was on a track I'm very familiar with as I DE there.
When all was said and done I loved the sound and look of the Lambo but did not like the way it felt on the track. This could be because the 997 is superior or it could be because I'm more used to that platform. But when I left I basically thought to myself for the track I'll stick with a Porsche but if I want to make heads turn drive the Lambo.
I had the option to drive a newer Lamborghini, but I chose the Ferrari after watching the Lambo run a few laps. It was running poorly (backfiring/popping while accelerating), and it was not cornering neatly. I went into the event certain I'd choose the Lamborghini, but after seeing what the course was like, I felt the Ferrari was the best match. What a privilege to drive...sitting in someone else's Ferrari made me realize how fortunate I am (and we all are) to enjoy such things. It wasn't THAT many years ago that I was driving a burgundy Ford Tempo...
I actually intended to drive the Ferrari also but it was booked that day.
I'll need to go back and take a turn on the Ferrari as it's one of my bucket list items. Well actually owning one is but driving is a close second.
