I'd stick with the .357 caliber calipers, since you have the flexibility to run .38's for daily driving and save the .357's for track days.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I changed my breaks including replacing my pads and rotors. I also painted my calibers. However after I did my swap, my radio no longer works. I did replace my break pad sensors. Could I have short circuited something? Any ideas?

POST 3Original post

i can only say go over your work and see if ya bumped something. check fuses etc. did you order the right parts........not "break dancing" parts but brake parts. lol

POST 4Original post

I would start with repainting your calibers back to the stock color. That should fix the radio issue.

POST 5Original post

The issue is that you changed your "breaks" - this is known to break everything. Next time, change your brakes, and nothing will break. Did you also replace the 996's spleen?

POST 7Original post

Exit the car, lock it, then unlock it and try the radio. I have had a similar problem twice and each time it was cured by doing this? Paul

POST 8Original post

Did you repaint your IMS when you painted your Breaks? I know the Porsh engineers designed it to be left unpainted, but there has not been a single failure of any IMS that has been painted in a paisley design. As for the radio, check the tuning fluid level by removing the cigarette lighter and placing a fork in that socket. If you feel a slight tingling, then you are low... may want to send the engine to be rebuilt.

POST 9Original post

(I'm going to feel guilty if Alpine was genuinely asking for assistance... )

POST 10Original post

This car is obviously too high tech for you to be wrenching on. I highly suggest a Miata. But, since you did paint the calibers, I would return them to the original .45 acp caliber. The 9mm is too thin.

POST 11Original post

Exactly what caliber are your calipers? I'm running .357s but am thinking of upgrading to .45s

Did your radio work before the break work?

POST 13Original post

I'd stick with the .357 caliber calipers, since you have the flexibility to run .38's for daily driving and save the .357's for track days.

POST 14Original post

This thread belongs in the good week in the 996 section. I went with .50 caliber, go big or go home. One tap on the brakes and it does the rest for you. Don't even have to keep my foot on the pedal to bring the car to a full stop.

POST 15Original post

give me a brake....M1919A6 my avatar says it all.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys for all your suggestions. I ended up painting it back to the stock black color and the radio now works.

POST 18Original post

You are very lucky! I had the opposite happen... I changed out my radio, and suddenly my breaks wouldn't work, not any caliber!
