Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Everyone, My C4s was destined to arrive in the next 2 weeks. I went to the dealer today to check the paperwork and learned that my dealer inadvertently ordered it as a tiptronic. Well, that's not going to work. Sadly, I asked for a printout months ago, but they assured me it wasn't necessary. Stupid me! I have since cancelled the order since I have no interest in a tip. They tried to persuade me to take one of their incoming stock cars at sticker when it arrives sometime in May. However, it's not exactly (maybe 85%) what i ordered, and I'm now aggravated b/c the dealer expects list for a car that wasn't ordered exactly as I requested. The other alternative is to place a new order that will arive someetime in August (probably 2004 model). What would you guys do? Do any of you know of any dealers with a C4S similar to the following: Seal Grey Black Leather Sport Seats Carbon Fiber shifter/handbrake Aluminum Dials Sport Exhaust Stainless Steel exhaust Bose Xenon Red Stitching (Optional) Dimming Mirrors/Rain Sensor (Optional) TIA.

POST 2Original post

For the money you're spending I think you should get what you want. If you take a car w/o some of the things you wanted it will haunt you! If you're driving a Pcar now a wait won't be too bad. If you're in MA now and are close to the Cape, I can help you take out some of your noPcar frustrations. IMHO he's going to have a big problem selling "your" car at list. It's a beautifully optioned car and a great color combo, but I bet it stays on his floor for awhile. If that happened to me I'm afraid I'd lose it! With the slow market, I'm surprised that the dealer wasn't more cooperative. Was he willing to sell you the Tip at the 6spd price. PS: If you're going to re-order I'd conisder something other than black console to break up the interior a bit. AS would look good and would go with the CF. Advice is cheap!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Don, Your advice is always appreciated. He said he may negotiate on the tiptronic, which is typically a good thing. However, I have my mind set on a 6 speed for my Pcar. Amazingly, my dealer has no C4S's in stock. It seems there is no need to negotiate in Miami anymore. I personally like my salesman quite a bit. He's generally a nice guy who I would recommend to anyone for a porsche, ferrari, aston martin, etc. etc. However, he was somewhat patronizing today when I chose to walk away from the deal. He couldn't understand why I wouldn't buy the other "stock" car when it arrived in May. After all, he said it was an "honest mistake." Granted, I have no doubt it was an honest mistake, but the solution he has offered isn't attractive to me. As you said, I should get exactly what I want at this price. The trick is now getting it. Oh, the joy of high end car shopping.

POST 4Original post

What options are on the "stock" C4S's coming this May? Everything you want apart from the exterior and interior colors can be retrofit no problem.

POST 5Original post

RJV who is your sales man (I know the dealership)?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tony. I personally think he's a great guy and would recommend him to anyone. However, I am disappointed with how this has turned out. I may wait for an '04 now as I won't get an '03 until July or August if I place a new order.

POST 7Original post

I would go to another dealer after that. Who cares if he was a nice guy at the beginning! I would be a nice guy too if you were going to spend $90k on a car! Now there is no deal and his true color shows! Walk and don't look back. The c4s Cab is coming out soon. You may want to be first on the block for that car!

POST 8Original post

First of all your situation really sucks!! I would be very upset so you are definitely taking it better than I would. Given the amount of $$ involved, and the fact that the twerp won't go below list, I would definitely order an 04 C4S from someone else. However, if the salesperson ever wakes up, and you can live with the missing options.. you may want to take the one in May (BUT ONLY if a better deal is struck). I called my salesguy and he has an 03 Black/black C4S on the lot with Xenon, Heated Seats, Colored Center Wheel Hubs, Bose, Supple Leather, Floor Mats, Alum. Dials and Alum Shifter / Brake Handle. List is $87,285. I'm sure he would give you a good deal so let me know if you want his cell phone #. Russ P.S. My wife and I have purchased three cars from him (my oldest son used to be a lot tech and recommended him to me a few years back). So I'm just a satisfied customer...nothing more.

POST 9Original post

What a joke! They should be bending over backwards to compensate for their mistake. You should get what you wanted and nothing less. I understand that in some circumstances a wrong option might not really be that bad but it depends on a person. And a transmission choice is usually a MAJOR factor for most people! The fact that they tried to make light of it and not even try to make it more attractive with price etc. is ridiculous. As someone said previously...now he shows his true colors...RUN! I just purchased an '03 C4-S 3 weeks ago and you can find some good deals out there. I'm not sure there are many Seal Grey ones out there though. I looked on the porsche website, dealer search option and then you can view dealers inventory. The pages it links you to are standardized so it's easy to view many dealers' quickly. Then I narrowed down the cars I liked and gave them a call. Get what you want!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I agree on all accounts. I was contacted by 1 dealer due to my post, and he made a decent offer (5500) on a july delivery with all the options that I requested. I may take him up on the offer.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The offer was $5500 below sticker. When will the 2004s hit US shores? I'm still debating whether it would be better to pay slightly more for an early 2004. What are your thoughts?

POST 12Original post

I think they are screwing you, there is no way an error like that can happen. They either never ordered your car or, most likely sold it to someone else.

POST 13Original post

That's a good offer. If you shop some more I imagine you could get another 1 or 2K but if you found the car you want it's a fair offer based on the current market. Especially if it's the seal grey you were looking for...

The differential in value between an 04 and an 03 will always be larger than a couple of thousand dollars, even if the actual delivery dates are only a couple of months apart. Dealers label your car by model year irrespective of actual delivery date. The wait should only be another couple of months.

Take this opportunity to choose a GT3 instead ;-)

POST 17Original post

Don "from Cape Cod": I see that you are listing Naples, as well. If you are referencing Naples, Fl, I am here with my '03 C4S in Mediterra. Where are you?

POST 18Original post

I had a very similar thing happen to me a month ago. When the ar arrived, it was the wrong color and then some... After just a bit of pushing from my side, the salesmanager and the P-rep together found another car on the boat to a dealer in Houston that was a very close match. In fact, I even liked it better... The dealer took another 1K off (9K off in total) and I only had to wait another 3 (long) weeks. So in short: Porsche can and will be willing to help you. Just make sure the area rp knows. Sticker is an insult. 9K off is a good deal. 5.5k off is a bad deal IMO.
