Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

That's also common and I guess it's either replaced with a new one or the guys on the list can even advise you change the engine under warranty??

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My brand new 2002 C4S done 10,000 km started oil leak, took it to the dealer workshop to check out the leak, told me it is a normal case for a Porsche and gave me an appointment to fix next week.
Honestly i am not convinced how could a new technology + a new 2002 Porsche + two hours driving twice a week can ever have early oil leaks.
Anyone of you guys had a similar case or even a comment will make me feel better
Thanks

Fadi,
where is the leak coming from exactly??
if it's the lower engine pan or your driver's side engine cover, then it's regular to all 996 engines..
If the leak is coming from the joint between the transmission and the engine then it's the rear main engine seal, you know the one you sent me last year! That's also common and I guess it's either replaced with a new one or the guys on the list can even advise you change the engine under warranty?? (am dumb about warranty issues anyway, we dont have it here!)
Confirm locatio of leak.
Now let me go check my transmission for leakage!

Great, at least it's not the rear engine seal..
Mine is leaking especially under fast runs, so the dropplets of oil fall on the exhaust manifolds and boil up to evaporate... Makes quite a nice scene with all the smoke around when i stop..
..yes i'm keeping a fire extinguisher in the car!

They say that if it doesn't leak it's not a Porsche. My local dealership makes a distinction between oil leakage and oil seepage. The former they will fix, the latter not. With the intervention of my tuner and 2 visits to the dealer I got the leaks/seeps stopped completely. They replaced a gasket and resealed a number of bolts.
