I run my stereo's pretty loud, but even at normal current draw they still get hot, so I don't want to damage it and it's chrome like finish

The main reason for mounting my amp there was to facilitate the use of the trunk as is, as I use it a lot.

Ive got visions of putting the spare on and still needing someone to come out to pick up the replaced wheel ?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, now you are all going to laugh at me, but I just removed my spare from the trunk in my c2 so that I can actually mount an amp there, when it arrives. I went the the costco today and was astonished that I have increased the cargo room enourmously! I fit it all in without having to put junk in the seats or otherwise! I am impressed. I would have to say it added about 30-40% more usable space. I can now put two full pallets of soda side by side on the bottom! What a mod! hehe.
Hey, not to burst your bubble, but how will you get home if you run over a nail or other miscellaneous debris dropped by a roofer or other such construction type?
Better hope you leave yourself the tool kit which contains the tow eye you'll need to attach to the bumper. Otherwise you're looking at a bent cotrol arm or other very expensive suspension piece that WILL be damaged by a big steel hook.
Not to mention the tow cost.
Mount the amp on the floor. Search the archives for alternatives to removing the spare.
Good luck
yeah I have seen that mounting on the floor and that defeats the purpose of having a trunk. It also makes for not the cleanest install IMHO. It is very bad to put anything on an amp, as they are supposed to have 2" on all sides for cooling. I run my stereo's pretty loud, but even at normal current draw they still get hot, so I don't want to damage it and it's chrome like finish
. I have a plug kit and an dc compressor for flats so I don't worry about that. Besides who the hell is going to run that spare anywayz? The main reason for mounting my amp there was to facilitate the use of the trunk as is, as I use it a lot. And there is no way that I can fit my 5 channel PPI under the seat, although there is alot of room, and that's where I keep my tool kit, quick detail, terry cloth, and compressor!
Thanks I just think it's silly to put the amp on the floor and negate the use of the trunk altogether, and I also think it's silly to have a spare in there that I will never use.
Can you actually fit the flat tire + wheel in the car if you have to replace it with the spare
- asking cos Ive heard that you cant fit it in the trunk (especially a rear wheel in the C4S) and getting it in behind the seats is a 'challenge'...
Ive got visions of putting the spare on and still needing someone to come out to pick up the replaced wheel ?
FWIW, I thought the spare was an integral part of the crush zone in case of a front end collision?
The rear tire will NOT fit in the trunk (according to earlier posts). Only solution there is to get a Cab and put it in rear seat area!
There should be enough room to place an amp on the front wall of the front boot. I fit an Audiobahn amp in my car w/o moving anything out.
What kind of amp are you buying?
sacrificing your spare tire to put in an amp? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> can you spell short sighted? <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> while you're at it cancel your liability insurance! no one ever needs that,dude! <img border="0" alt="[bigbye]" title="" src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" />
Short sighted? Well I don't live in the sticks, but in LA I can have the car properly flat bedded if need be and only have to go maybe a mile in any direction to get any tire I want. So I don't think that's short sided. I also carry a plug kit and air compressor so I can do it that way as well. As for canceling liability insurance? You have to carry at least that in this State. I don't know about your state laws but your comments are petty.
spr
