Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For cosmetic reasons only, what's the best way to get red calipers for a 996? Do the Boxter S ones fit? Is there anyone out there that does an exchange? Or is it best to get mine powder coated? The only problem with this is getting the "Porshe" lettering back on there. Has anyone done this?

POST 2Original post

I did it on mine. Powder coating + "reverse" stencils and high temp white paint. Check Robin Sun's page at p-car.com for full details. It's on a 993 but we did it together on my 996 right after JM

Hi Gang: We purchased 4 original Boxster S red calipers from the dealer about $1,000 +/-, then placed our black caliper for sale on ebay and got $550, our net cost about $450. I believe the powdercoating cost about $75-$125 each, the brake caliper pistons needs to be professionally removed before powdercoating then reinstalled, then you need to store the car 2-3 days while the powdercoating is drying <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> . The time saving was worth it for us to go the OEM route. <img src="http://sites.hsprofessional.com/swong/files/redcaliper.jpg" alt=" - " /> <img src="http://sites.hsprofessional.com/swong/files/afterside2.jpg" alt=" - " /> <img src="http://sites.hsprofessional.com/swong/files/afterside.jpg" alt=" - " /> Bocky '02 Carrera C2 coupe (son's) <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />
