Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace asking $$ any' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace asking $$ any' (1 discussions). Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i have seen them for sale @ $300 - $1000! I think retail is $1200. The true value is pretty much $0- that is what you will get at trade in - most folks never use them and they take up a lot of garage room.
The car is delivered with a hardtop, so if I were looking at your car in the used market I would expect the price to be cut appropriately (i.e. replacement value) if it wasn't included with the car. It is true that you don't get anything for it at trade in, because it is expected that you will have it. So you may pickup some spare dollars and garage space if you sell it, but may end up paying for it if you sell/trade-in the car. Just my $.02
I don't know an exact % but believe that quite a few 996 Cabs were ordered with the hard top delete option (lower price); at least as many that Porsche decided to make the hard top an option (higher price) later. I'm not sure if it was already an option for late 996 cars but it is for 997 Cabs. I don't think that having no hard top does really influence the sales price; maybe in Alaska
.
The delete is worth $1200 - and many cab buyers end up with the delete option. And when you go to trade in, they will NOT give you anymore money for your car with the top included (my expereince), nor do dealers discount a used 911 because it does not have the top. Again, just my experience. Once the car is on the used car market, a hard top is like an after market stereo...
Agree. I even use mine in Atlanta.
Every winter it feels like I'm driving a coupe in the Dec - Mar period.
Sound system sounds way better also...
As far as taking up space is concerned, buy a hoist. 200$ and an incredible investment.
Forgive my ignorance, why is the hardtop so important to your winter driving? I have driven my C4 cab through the past 2 winters without a hardtop and I don't feel that the weather has made any difference in what it feels like inside the car. In fact, I have always found that the hardtop muffles the sound of the engine especially @5000 RPM WOT in 3rd gear and if that's not a sin then it ought to be!
when we were looking for a cab some of them had the hard top some not. didnt change the asking $$ any. the one we did purchase did not have a top. i found one locally for 300$ and had it painted for 200$
It was Dark blue in perfect cond with a porsche cover . My car is white.
guy painted it in three days. perfect match.
Just wanted to have it for the option.
