Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

These same frequencies are used throughout the world for digital mobiles.
Leading evidence: 'Use throughout the world' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run short of space at 900mhz so were' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
It is my understanding that Voda & O2 were running short of space at 900mhz so were then also given some 1800mhz space.
Use standard frequencies and will eventually phase out 1900mhz

Suggestion
They are now starting to use the standard frequencies and will eventually phase out 1900mhz for mobiles.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Paul
Thanks for that - not sure but I thought Orange and T Mobile were on the same frequency whilst Vodafone and O2 were on another?
Needless to say Im currently with T Mobile!

Vodafone & O2 (Cellnet) originally operated on 900mhz. When Orange launched they were allocated 1800mhz as were One2one (now t-mobile). It is my understanding that Voda & O2 were running short of space at 900mhz so were then also given some 1800mhz space.
This is why most phones are now dual band. These same frequencies are used throughout the world for digital mobiles. Apart from America that is who decided that everyone else seemed to be on the wrong frequency and they should all really go onto 1900mhz. This is why we now have tri-band phones.
This has fortunately not caught on, mainly because the Americans were very late into digital mobile. This was not because they were lacking in technology but was merely due to the fact that the analogue coverage was not getting 'cloned' as badly as it was here, hence there was no urgent requirement. They are now starting to use the standard frequencies and will eventually phase out 1900mhz for mobiles.
Sorry to ramble on but at least you know a little bit more than before. <img border="0" alt="[blabla]" title="" src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" />
Oh and they should all work.
