Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Brand new 911 C4S with bose and pcm. The CD player works great but on occasion, and without rhyme or reason, the radio (am and fm) doesn't play. The station shows in the screen, just no sound and no response to the volume ****. This happend once before, briefly and somehow I fixed it buy don't know how, now, I seem to be helpless. Any thoughts? Thanks... <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

POST 2Original post

I have had the same problem with my radio 2003 911 C4S Bose, it seems to be a design problem with the new style radio. They got rid of the flip down door and I think the unit dose not know the CD is stopped try ejecting the disc it works for me

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, it worked OK tonight. I did eject the CD, that didn't seem to help at the time, perhaps it is the reason that it worked properly after the car sat for an hour and then was restarted. Weird. I will continue to monitor the situation, we'll see.....Thanks for the advice.

POST 4Original post

Ditto, gents. I have an '03 X-51 coupe,2 mo. old, and this weekend(for no appearent reason)the stereo/cd quit. Nothing I could do to fix it. Why? -who knows.I drove the car on tues. and it worked fine. Go figure. The only explanation I could render is that it is a Porsche. I had lots of little glitches on my '01 coupe that fixed themselves; Hi-revving at idle, sunroof malfunction a time or two, auto rear spoiler deploying at low speed or idle, check engine light etc...They all fixed themselves. -blustem

POST 5Original post

Yep... I have a new C4S and the radio mysteriously failed to come on a few times. I figured that it was a computer glitch, and treated it like a PC that just fails to respond and needs to be rebooted-- so I turned off the engine, waited a few minutes, and restarted the engine. The radio came back on. I wonder whether Porsche is aware of this, and if there is a software fix? The problem doesn't bother me enough that I want to yank out the entire radio.
