Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

O.K. i have decided finally to go with the B&M short shifter (arrived yesterday) and the factory Sport Exhaust (should be done early April). thanks to you on the board for helping clear up any indecision. the only other mod i would consider was adding H&R springs to lower the car some for handling. any thoughts? i am so glad i found this board.

POST 2Original post

I would use the Porsche RoW kit to lower the car. This is a tuned matched set of components (springs, shocks and stabilizers) that will affect the handling characteristics dramatically and predictably. IMHO just changing one component is asking for handling problems.

POST 3Original post

Carnewal has the best prices, service. Get the Euro Sport M030.

POST 4Original post

I have the H&R springs.. the car looks great..but problem is there is too much rebound, not enough dampening with this system..b/c with the shorter springs, the shock is always "preloaded" b/c of the compression caused by the shorter spring. Anyways, its not too much of a bother but i would go to a coil over system if I had to do it again.

POST 5Original post

I agree with Loren, best way to go is the RoW M030. I refer you to the Pano article on suspensions available on the PCA national site. Enjoy the shifter, carefully follow the instructions and it's an easy install. where did you get the Sport Exhaust, good price?

POST 6Original post

I was told by another member that Sunset Porsche in Oregon has the RoW M030 for $971! Could be my next upgrade! Just hooked up the litronics today, that was easy and a great upgrade. Kudos to Suncoast Porsche of Sarasota FL, $1095 is the best price out there.

POST 7Original post

That's a great price on the RoW suspension. I have bought things from Suncoast and Sunset in the past, all are good people. So the litronic was an easy DIY project? I need to upgrade soon...

POST 8Original post

I have the B&M and stainless steel exhaust and headers from GHL. I also have the H&R springs. I use the car for many de's and am totally pleased with these and other modifications! Enjoy.

POST 9Original post

Driving Mike what do you think of the GHL exhaust? I'm thinking about adding GHL mufflers to my '03 C4S and am wondering how they sound, say compared to the factory sport exhaust? I'd like to do the headers as well but am told I would be taking a chance on my warranty. If you know of or have any sound bites of the GHL exhaust let me know!

POST 10Original post

LanceK, The GHL sounds great and has resulted in a performance increase. Before and after on the track is marked. I have been in for warranty work (oil leak) since the install and no problems with the warranty. For sound bite try famotorsports.com or call Bob or Bobby at [phone removed] Regards, Mike

POST 11Original post

I have the B & M shifter in my car and am happy with it so far. JAS

POST 12Original post

Mike do you have GHL mufflers only or do you have GHL headers as well? I heard mufflers only shouldn't effect warranty but that the headers could go either way. Also I know it's hard to describe but how does it sound...i.e. throaty, mechanical (Factory Sport Exhaust seems to be more mechanical) etc. * I couldn't get that website to work...is www.famotorsports.com correct?

POST 14Original post

LanceK, I have the exhaust and the headers and had no problem getting warranty work two times for oil leak. The sound is throaty and rumbly. It is quite esthetically pleasing. I can actually hear the engine now on the track with my helmet on, which I could not previously. It is also not too loud for street use. The correct web site is www.2fam.com. Sorry. The people who I bought the ghl from did the development work and dyno research in conjnction with ghl. There are definite performance gains. We estimate that my 2001 996 C4 has gone from 300 hp stock to about 335. We will know for sure once Champion Motors installs their 4 wheel dyno.
