Repair shop wants to replace the whole convertible top, but he has already charged the insurance WAY TOO MUCH for MINOR front end damage and I dont want to whole top replaced, only the rearview plastic window.

Hi guys, I still have my cabriolet at the repair shop for almost a month since my accident in NYC snowy weather. The repair shop has not reset the rollbars. He told me that it is manually reset, but a Porsche dealer told me only their computer can reset it. Also, the rollbar has pushed up against the rearview plastic window, thus deforming it. Repair shop wants to replace the whole convertible top, but he has already charged the insurance WAY TOO MUCH for MINOR front end damage and I dont want to whole top replaced, only the rearview plastic window. Can I only have the plastic replaced? Thanks in advance for all your help. Michael

I'm not Loren but I understand that just replacing the plastic window is not an option. It would be prohibitively expensive to sew a new one in - even more expensive than replacing the whole top. Good luck, I hope you get it back on the road soon.
