i changed over my oem pirelli assyms to conti's because of poor wet traction in the assyms.

Now if you change the overall size on ALL the wheels I don't know if it will matter or not.

Suggestion
The suspension will settle with miles and feel less jarring but if you want a smoother ride try changing your tire pressures to 36-40 or 34-38.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey all,
I just picked up a 02 C4S which I'm loving very much. I have a few questions though.
Does NE1 know where I can get clear side markers instead of the amber ones?
What would be the best replacement tires with the least amount of road noise? I think someone mentioned the Conti 2's but what does everyone else think.
This might seem like a dumb question but what would happen to the handling/driving characteristics if you put 45's in front instead of the 40's and 40's in back instead of the 30's?
One more thing, I hear a lot of people not liking the upgrading bose system but I have to say I think it sounds pretty good considering what came in my C32 AMG.
Thanks, appreciate it!

Congrats, and good luck!
;-)
Congrats, I have one too and love it!
Markers are easy, as Sentipede says, Suncoast is a good place to get them, they just snap in, takes 5 secs.
The conti-2's probably ARE the quietest and smoothest tire you can buy for this car. Mine came with them and I think they are TOO comfort oriented, I'll be replacing them with yoko avs or pilot sport cups in a coupla thousand miles.
The suspension will settle with miles and feel less jarring but if you want a smoother ride try changing your tire pressures to 36-40 or 34-38. Thats not factory recommened but many people, myself included, find the car rides better and looses nothing grip-wise.
GOod luck
ronin!
great name! <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" /> welcome to the greatest porsche forum on the net! best members, admin and gremlins ever!
i changed over my oem pirelli assyms to conti's because of poor wet traction in the assyms. ride quality is slightly better with much less road noise. i would have prefered so3's or mich pilots but they were not available in the size needed for our rear wheels!
btw, beware both the assyms and conti's in the cold. they are dangerous at temps below freezing! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> be sure to get winter tires!
i am also satisfied with the bose system
imo, much better than prior porsche systems.
i also traded in a c32 amg--i missed a 6sp, hated the intrusive amg esp system and blew an engine at 9500 mi! <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" /> it was an expensive decision that i have been delighted with! <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> ive had 20k+ trouble free miles with the c4s! <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />
congrats on your new ride! <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
I like the Bose myself.
In regards to your tire question. If I'm correct changing just your tires will alter the overall size of your wheels and tires and on a C4-S I think this is critical. Now if you change the overall size on ALL the wheels I don't know if it will matter or not. But I do know that say if you had some miles on your tires and replaced one from a flat tire or something that having one bigger than the other will affect the AWD system and could do damage to the diffs.
Anyone confirm or add to my comments?
Thanks for the replies! :-) I look forward to future chatting!
Ignacio: I'm the one who e-mailed you about selling my c32 and how the transition was to the C4S a while back.....Well I finally went through with it and thanks for the info!
