This is not a probability of success.

FWIW they said it was the only one that made power on the dyno.
Leading evidence: 'only one' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). I got a great deal on it, and I'll have it installed next week.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

have an '02 996 C2. b&m shifter gets installed in one month. looking to upgrade exhaust system. porsche offers the sport exhaust what do you think.also looking at the fabspeed and others.
Get the gemballa or the ruf. Best two sounds I have heard. I really like the gemballa though and am going to get it once I pay off d credit card monsters!
Sal, I have the Ruf sport exhaust and I think it sounds the best IMO, but it's also among the most expensive. The factory sport exhaust sounds great and probably costs as much as the Ruf or more, but it is a factory part. A lot of people use the Fabspeed exhaust, I think it sounds awesome as well, also the best bang for the buck in terms of price. These are all the exhaust I have personally heard, they all sound good though all slightly different, and all have no resonance or other ill effects. There are many other choices, Gemballa, Roock, Techart,GHL, Tubi but I have not heard any of these.
I have a techart exaust on my car. The dealer in Canada told me that Techart was the only exaust that didn't rob the 996 of power. I was told that my exaust is good for 10hp. (I wonder if that is before adding headers.)
Which exausts are actually proven to add additional hp, when installed?
thanks everyone, i was looking at the fabspeed and don't beleive it robs the car of any power instead increases it. thanks again, i am glad i joined this site.
Ruf/Weissach claimed a 10hp increase for the Ruf exhaust as well. FWIW they said it was the only one that made power on the dyno. I have no idea about these claims, but my car sure pulls harder in the straights at TWS, and sounds great.
But if I was going to do it again I would take a real hard look at the Fabspeeds.
I have the fabspeed, and I think its great. My only problem with it is about every six months my rear right muffler wiggles loose from the vibration. No big deal just needs a tighning. I would check out the Mille Miglia, as I have heard it is the best exhaust for a 996 (whatever that means
).......
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the available choices, but I chose the Porsche sport and ordered it from Carnewal. (not affiliated) All I can tell you is that I think it sounds great, and have received many positive comments such as "now this is what a Porsche should sound like"

Year ago, the Dealer off the shelf price was about $2300 plus installation $700-900??
If you don't want the switching capability takes about an hour (8 nuts, plus removal of the tips)...
I have heard great things about the Gemballa Sports Exhaust. It has a quality sound that is throatier, and not obnoxiously loud like some hot rod. I have not heard of any HP loss from it, the dealer claims 5-10 HP increase. I got a great deal on it, and I'll have it installed next week. I'll keep you updated.
I had the factory exhaust with the baffle switch installed...it sounds awesome....my 2 cents
There is a Porsche Sport Exhaust system on eBay for a buy it now price of around $1395 or so, but it is for 99 to 01 cars.
My dealership will sell you the 02 and newer mufflers for $1695.00 before install. We can ship anywhere.
