Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

zeezee, yes, i believe that 99 is the only year you can opt for LSD, 2000 onward, the LSD option is replaced by the PSM, which is optional on RWD and standard on AWD models.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
Rennlist: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Out of curiosity I also have a 99 and I have traction control with my MB it didn't work with the lsd, and so it had an open diff.
So I've been trolling the 'list for about a month, learning and asking and generally hanging. I've been extremely influenced by all of you, and finally took the plunge today. Here's what I got, and where I'm heading:
Late MY99 996 Cab (built in 7/99), Triple-Black, 6-Speed, Full Leather, 18" Twist-Chromes, Hard Top. In pretty amazing shape, brought it to a dealer and they told me they'd buy it if I didn't. No heated seats (bummer).
Got it for a really good deal, but paid $4k for a 3/36 bumper-to-bumper (ouch!). Still, about $6k less than I've seen them for in SoCal.
Here's where I go broke: Add a 3-spoke steering wheel, Litronics, a fully customized audio system, new shifter, new handbrake, new armrest/cupholder, maybe the 02 18" 5-spokes, and maybe try to get some seat heater elements jammed in there.
I learned about all of this on the Rennlist. So this is all your fault! See you at some club meet sometime...
Oh no! What a mistake!! Dont you know that were all bunch of Porsche AG (and PCNA) gnomes? This is just a giant 1984 style promotional computer project of Porsche.
Seriously, sounds like youve got a nice beast. Hope you enjoy it!! If it is a 1999 then does it come with LSD? That would make a very nice 996.
Stephen
Stephen - LSD? Is that the precursor to PSM (sorry, I'm new)? If so, then no. But while I looked for something like PSM, I feel that in SoCal it's less necessary than it may be in other areas of the U.S...

Good job, you will love your car. Out of curiosity I also have a 99 and I have traction control with my MB it didn't work with the lsd, and so it had an open diff. Is this true of mine? It doesn't say anything about it on the sticker as an option so dunno. Thanks. Sean
ZeeZee,
Since you've been here for awhile before buying, you should know it's not polite to talk about your new P-Car without posting pics! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
