Guess what I am looking for is someone who has carried out this mod to confirm blue and brown wire voltage using a multi meter.

The spoiler activates up and down as it should using the rocker switch so I'm happy with the middle 3 connections to the switch but hesitant to connect the other 2 to the switch as there appears to be 24 volts supply from the PSM switch supply connector when tested using a multi-meter?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, as per title message I have finally taken the plunge after 30 years of waiting and purchased my first Porsche. I am now the proud owner of a 2002 C2 996 in basalt black with full black leather and a host of other options. Purchased from original private owner with 37K on clock ,a FSH and in immaculate condition. One issue I am struggling to find information on is............. I carried out the Rear Spoiler Switch modification as per following online instructions, http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...-relocate.html however I am unsure about the wiring for the switch's illumination? The spoiler activates up and down as it should using the rocker switch so I'm happy with the middle 3 connections to the switch but hesitant to connect the other 2 to the switch as there appears to be 24 volts supply from the PSM switch supply connector when tested using a multi-meter? This is my 2nd attempt at this modification as I connected my original switch as per above instructions but had no illumination when headlights switched on. I returned this switch under warranty, not knowing if I had caused the damage myself by blowing the LED). Can anyone offer any further information on this? Thanks in advance for all comments. Joe.

POST 2Original post

First of all, congrats on becoming a new 911 owner, pics are always welcomed. I believe there are several write ups available concerning the switch wiring. Have you done a search on Rennlist?

POST 4Original post

Congratulations! You'll most likely find yourself just sitting there and smiling.....then you'll remember to start up and move off!

POST 8Original post

Yes congrats! Sounds like a nice car. Pictures are mandatory for this sort of introduction.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the great welcome guys. I have attached a few pictures showing my car and the spoiler switch in question.. Guess what I am looking for is someone who has carried out this mod to confirm blue and brown wire voltage using a multi meter. Thanks again in advance

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You are so right Kelly! Other motorists must think I'm mad!

POST 11Original post

I havn't done this mod, however I'm surprised with 24 VDC reading? Thought everything on these car would be 12 VDC operated.

POST 12Original post

Beautiful car! Love the wheels! Best of luck!

POST 13Original post

Congrats, I got my first 911 when I was 28, I'm 30 now and it still makes me smile from ear to ear. I hope you have many happy miles in it! Keith

POST 14Original post

Congrats joe39, and welcome to the 911 club :-)

POST 15Original post

Beautiful car and yes, I love those wheels too - I think they're my favorite of all stock jobs. Joe, you from around Aberdeen? I made it there once....fun place. Sorry, I don't have any help with the spoiler but you can always check renntech.org as well. Much of the more technical stuff can be found there.

POST 16Original post

Beautiful car! Don't forget to change out the IMS bearing for peace of mind!

POST 17Original post

Welcome and congratulations on the purchase Joe

POST 18Original post

I did the spoiler mod, and just tapped off of the illumination terminals of one of the neighboring switches (not sure which one). No problems for me.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Result..... Firstly thanks for all your advice.. After much head scratching I have discovered that the switch I have wired in is different from the one shown in the modification pictorial. The spade connections at the rear of my switch are 180' around from what is shown in the modification meaning the outermost 2 connections when reversed light up as they should! This modification has taken some time to resolve however it was well worth the effort. Thanks again for all comments, much appreciated, Cheers Joe.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Kelly, thanks for your comment I live in the city of Dunfermline approx 12 miles north of Edinburgh. Aberdeen is about 2 1/2 hours drive north of Dunfermline. Great place other than the weather!! Cheers Joe.
