Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My '99 has a lever to open the frunk but today I pulled and nothing happened. There is some resistance which leads me to believe the cable is still connected. I inserted a piece of wood between the bumper and hood to move manually to no avail. Anyone have a fix?

POST 2Original post

Get someone to help you to gently "bounce" the hood while you pull the release. Then search for "Repairing trunk latch" or "trunk latch spring" There is a clock spring that can get broken/out of position.

POST 3Original post

When this happened to me I used a very thin pry (jimmy) bar. Put the bar under the hood with some wood blocking underneath. Pry it up slowly. Then take apart the latch. The spring inside came undone. Easy fix but take your time. The spring could poke ur eye out..... If you want to replace the latch I have an extra one.
