I installed the Brey-Krause harness bar in the back which I think may contribute a bit to stiffness.

He used my car as a test bed for his 996 systems and I just don't have the patience or the time to have to go back every time one of the brackets fail or the pipes aren't bent in the absolute right shape, etc.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Who can sound off about their suspension upgrade? I am also interested in lowering mine a bit, is there a suspension that give more flexibility for lowering than others?

POST 2Original post

H&R Coliovers on my 1999 996. Best upgrade ever. Full flexibility in terms of height. Great ride quality (the springs are progressive rate) and no spring/shock binding. No creaks, no groans, etc. Just do it. It's worth every penny. If you can't or don't want to fork out that much cash, try to get the ROW M030 suspension.

POST 3Original post

I think you would like the new PSS9 set up. It is awsome !!! Theo

POST 4Original post

Alon, Nice set of mod you have there, I'm not familiar with the Brullen exhaust what are you getting instead? How do you like the Ruf short shifter? Those BBS wheels will look great doug!

POST 5Original post

I've got a 2001 996 Coupe, suspension modifications to date: H&R coilover kit (Bilstein shocks, H&R springs), GT3 adjustable sway bars front & back, adjustable drop links on the front end, strut brace up front. It's lowered to just under GT3 ride height (I take it easy on the bumpy Chicago streets)and four corner balanced. I installed the Brey-Krause harness bar in the back which I think may contribute a bit to stiffness. I'm told that the front strut brace is unnecessary. AWESOME on the track and not harsh on the street. Looks have been greatly enhanced IMHO.

POST 6Original post

Thanks Doug. Brullen is a local (Toronto, Ontario) builder of stainless exhaust systems for many cars. His muffler designs are great and his work is usually very, very good (I've had his systems on previous cars, Audis) but he can't seem to get mine right. He used my car as a test bed for his 996 systems and I just don't have the patience or the time to have to go back every time one of the brackets fail or the pipes aren't bent in the absolute right shape, etc. Mind you, I am a bit picky but I'm willing to pay for it, just not in time and frustration. Brullen is a classic example of great ideas and design poorly executed. As far as the RUF shifter, I love it. It's adjustable, easy to install without a single modification and easy to adjust between 20-30-40% throw reduction. I can't wait for my wheels and for spring to come. I just have to find someone who will buy my stock Porsche Sport Classic IIs.
