Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've just heard from so many people that changing the factory exaust to aftermarket almost always robs the 996 of performance.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've had the Techart exaust on my car for over two years now. I will probably be on the market soon for a new exaust. I love an exaust that sounds loud and mean under heavy acceleration. I've just heard from so many people that changing the factory exaust to aftermarket almost always robs the 996 of performance.

POST 2Original post

GHL exhaust and headers sound good and added about 35 HP.

POST 3Original post

Cameron, I don't think any of the exhausts really add much power, maybe between 5-10 max. The improved sound and hence the added auditory input are key when at the track with a helmet IMO. For instance with stock exhaust, I could literally not hear my car with a helmet, and was inadvertently redlining the engine constantly. Having said this I think the Fabspeed gives the deepest throatiest sound while the Ruf is a lot more raspy with an almost air cooled note, it has been called viscious at full throttle.

POST 4Original post

Mike have you dynoed that much power? that's a hell of an improvement.
