Suggestion

If it really is the heating element and not the relay, the heating element runs under $200 the last time I checked so you're basically paying over $350 for labor.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My drivers heated leather seat quit working. I took it to the dealer and they said the element was bad. The element is on order. I was told the seat has to be taken out and the leather seat cover has to be taken off to repair it. Is this a big deal to do ? What are the chances my seat cover will get messed up in the process ? It is going to cost me $550. Thanks..

POST 2Original post

I had my seat foam replaced with an OEM cushion on the drivers side by an upholstery shop and got to watch them do it. The seat element is really not a major thing to change and shouldn't come with much chance of error. The clips that hold the bolsters in place are a little of a challenge so make sure they take care.....

POST 3Original post

It depends on how mechanically inclined you are and how much free time you have. If it really is the heating element and not the relay, the heating element runs under $200 the last time I checked so you're basically paying over $350 for labor. Here is one DIY with pics: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...r-cushion.html
