Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Running higher than 93 octane seems to add a touch of psychological boost, no engine boost, but drains the wallet.

Suggestion

Two things: 91 octane does not hurt the car, just makes it slower; running pure racing gas could only possibly be helpful relative to 93 octane under extreme heat loads such as actual racing, unless engine modifications are made to take advantage of it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

With a new Porsche, how long is it recommended to wait before applying a coat of wax? I know when body work is performed, paint work requires at least 30-60 days before waxing. . . Also, does anyone out there add a few gallons of high octane fuel with each tank of gas? There are a few stations around here that sell 101 and some that sell as high as 118, obviously for racing applications. Will mixing or using exclusively higher octane fuel adversely impact anything? Any thoughts? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Lots of stuff on the archives. Just do a search. If you trust my summary, here it is. Wax. Opinions vary. The car is already at least 4-6 weeks from original paint time, so can wax right away. OTOH, unless it is real grimy, it is better to hold off for 3 months for the best "cure". Me, I waited 2 months. Gas. The car is optimized at 93 octane. Less octane at the pump (as in Ca), good to add/mix 100 octane to bring it up to spec. Ratios are in the archives somewhere. Running higher than 93 octane seems to add a touch of psychological boost, no engine boost, but drains the wallet. Have fun!! Hope this helped.

POST 3Original post

I mix in 104 octane unleaded here in CA, where we only get 91 octane super. Definitely very noticeable improvement, adds about $12 per tank. Might not be such a big deal from 92 octane, can't say since it's been a while out here. Two things: 91 octane does not hurt the car, just makes it slower; running pure racing gas could only possibly be helpful relative to 93 octane under extreme heat loads such as actual racing, unless engine modifications are made to take advantage of it.
