But if there's no set screw it'll come off with a very strong pull (don't hit yourself in the face when it comes loose...)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got my car back today and while it was in the shop for "40 days and forty nights" I bought a few things. I will be replaceing it with a new carbon/alum. shifter. So I got the shifter boot off but cant seem to get the top off. :shifter. I tried to twist as well as pull, but didnt want to mess anything up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.. Dave

POST 3Original post

I have an '01 one as well. Just pull like there's no tomorrow - it'll come loose.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

R U guys sure??? I pulled pretty damn hard and nothing!! I didnt want to twist it cuse Im scared to mess something up. Please confirn tha you just pull it off. AGain, its the factory non alum/carbon shifer. Its the one where the sift **** and boot are one piece. Thanks again. Dave <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

POST 6Original post

If there is no screw then it pulls off. It pulls off very very hard so don't hurt yourself (or the car).

POST 7Original post

Eat wheaties in the morning. Sometimes they pull off with 2 fingers and other times the are "stuck" on and require a harder pull. Twist it back and forth which will expand the plastic sleeve that goes over the metal lever, then pull. Jeff
