Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 99 996 with the non-litronic headlights. I was contemplating putting in replacement headlight bulbs and upgrading to Xenon bulbs with a bluish tint. Is this possible? Has anyone ever done this on their 996? How difficult was installation? Here is a link to the bulbs:

I have ordered bulbs from these people before and they make a huge difference in my other vehicles and even though they are cheaper in price Ive had no trouble with them.
Thanks for the help!

Intallation of new bulbs is easy, just look in your manual for intructions, the whole headlight pops out like a cartridge, then you just pop in the new bulbs...
My concern would be, would these bulbs generate any extra heat? Could you damage the headlight housing in the process?
The 5000K is the color of the light.
I have put them in 99 C2 Cab and they work great. I did have one burn out after 6 months and did replace it. I am not sure if it burned out because of a bad bulb or excess heat as you mentioned.
Be very careful about keeping the wattage the same. I sold a set of my original headlights to a guy who melted his with a "cheap" lamp upgrade.
While the blue may look cool, I don't see how you will gain any light increase without increasing wattage. A yellow or white light of the same wattage will appear brighter than a blue lamp to the eye.

From putting these lights on my truck I noticed it made a huge difference. The clarity of the light is much better. They are not really a blue light they are just a white with a bluish tint to them. Isn't Kelvin a measure of temperature as in 5000 Kelvin?
