Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I see a lot of "users" using this forum and for 18 bucks or so you can become a Rennlist member. John D. has spend hours and hours updating this er, these Forums buying new servers, etc....and this isn't even his day job! Let's support RENNLIST with a membership. Some of us old f*rts who helped John out years ago were so rewarded.
Also, here's a copy of a message from John from the search archives:
___________
There are many of you who received your packages today from Rennlist for your support of the Le Mans and Natalie L. Streather Fund which included a Lifetime Membership card, autographed Hero Cards, etc. So, to all of those who e-mailed me today - I started replying individually, but
You folks are the ones who made a difference. You helped - in no small way - an underdog win the biggest race this year, maybe this decade. You are the folks who gave The Racer's Group and the Natalie Streather Fund the foundation to strive for winning. You folks are the ones made it happen. Jen and I did little but help with your efforts and focus your enthusiasm towards a combined goal. And for that - you have our thanks, both from Jen and I, but as importantly, perhaps more so - from Deb and Kevin Buckler and the team/crew who were able to "wave the flag" from the podium.
And it's not over. The Racers Group continues to achieve unprecedented success in the US and the Natalie L. Streather Fund will open shortly. And for those who unselfishly supported these efforts, there will be more items coming shortly in the mail to you. In the meantime, though -
Know you have Jen's and my thanks. You folks are what "Rennlist" is all about. And will be about, as we turn the next corner in Rennlist's mark on making a difference - each and every day. So to one quarter a million of you each day - you have our thanks. Wait until you see what you are able to accomplish in the next few months - it will astound you....

Don, I don't think you are out of line suggesting that everyone support John but you might be in assuming that those of us labeled "user" have not. I've been a member for several years but have never bothered requesting "member" by my name. I'm sure there are many like me that love the site and support it but haven't bothered with the label. Your point is a good one though.
Jim
Just so you know, Don, many of us who are "paid" members do not have the "Rennlist Member" appear because of recent system "enhancements" - see the Admin post at the top of this section that explains this and many other temporary problems.
TestnDoc...if you're patient a Red "Rennlist Member" will appear by your name.
Waz996...mail me the equivalent of about 15 bucks in Nigerian paper to:

I'll see that the total membership fee gets in the right hands!
Here is an alternate thought.
The combination of paying and non paying users makes Rennlist the best forum.
This aside, a less 'in your face' membership request may be a better sell. You know, like the kind they do at churches throughout the world every Sunday!
I'll join. How do you become a "Lifetime Member" not a 1 year or 2 year? In addition, what's the benifit? It is a serious question as other forums are free and the cost to maintain one of these it not that high...
Roy
All I can suggest is to read the Rennlist membership opportunities. For instance one is a free website.
Do you all know that there are more Rennlist users (members and users) than there are members of the PCA (Porsche Club of America)... I know it's not an "apples to apples" comparison because Rennlist is worldwide and PCA is "America", but according to the December Pano, PCA has about 52000 members and RENNLiST has over 60,000 users (if my facts are correct)
All I'm suggesting that for a minimal amount we all can keep this thing going. John and Jen do this in their SPARE TIME! 17 servers!!!!
That's large!
Don,
IMHO I don't think you are out of line here. I lurked on the list for about a year before I joined back in the days of the forgettable DuBoff era. My only regret has been not having the available resources to participate in the Streather fund at the time, as I have been unempolyed since June of 2001 (with the exception of Q1 last year) however, this is a new year full of promise. Rennlist is and has been a tremendous online community that only enhances the passion elicited by the marquee. Thanks to JD and all who contribute to making the list what it is today. To those of you that haven't... please participate through membership.
OK Don, count me in.
BUT I just tried to register via the secure credit card facility and got the message:-
"Online Transaction Processing
It is not possible to order from the store at this time.
Contact the merchant for further information."

Don's comment is great and well taken.
Especially to some of us procrastinators (have the memership form in my briefcase, but haven't got around to filling it out (the road to hell is paved with good intentions)).
So, echoing some of the previous comments, how do we make one phone call to become lifetime members and never have to worry about the administrative details again?
Give me the details and I will do this weekend before I hit the road again,
Doh!
My "rennlist member" seems to be gone too. hmmm. It looks like a lot of the posters here have had theirs restored. Am I barking up the right tree?
I've been a member since last summer, but I think I have always had the now-perjorative "user" by my name. I never paid much attention, but if others are going to be bothered by it, I guess I should try to get it changed. According to Deanger e-mailing doesn't work, and patience doesn't seem to do the trick either. Is there a secret handshake...? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
Hi Don:
You are so correct, Rocky and I just joined as rennlist members.
This forum has given me so much fun and information.
Thanks for the reminder.
