Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gonna fly out to Buffalo, NY to pick it up. If any Rennlisters are in the area, I would love to meet up. Maybe give me some pointers on the car, tell me what you think, what I should look out for, etc. I'm still somewhat "torn" between the 993 vs 996 thing, but the idea of a newer car so very well equipped and with a warranty to boot is swinging me towards the 996. One side of my brain keeps seeing the 1996 SY C4S and that georgeous wide a$$ while the other side of my brain keeps seeing the updated interior and equipment that comes with the 996 C4 Millennium Edition. If there were only some way to take the body panels off the 993 and put em on the 996... Also, I was wondering. When the 997's come out, with supposedly the 993 bodies, is that going to make the 996's depreciate even more, since the body, (or lack thereof) has been one of the major quips of the 993 vs 996 issue? Thanks in advance

POST 4Original post

Uhh, excuse me for the stupid quesion, but haven't you already made up your mind if you're flying to Buffalo to pick up your Millenium edition? If you change your mind at the last second, I believe the 10k mi Polar Silver/Black mint 96 C4S car at Hatch and Sons in the Northeast is still available for about $54,900. Whatever car you'll buy, you'll still be looking for your next car shortly after you get it! I just bought a 96 C4S for the looks alone. I loved the newer 996 in terms of power, interior and ventillation system, but like you said, I didn't love the body. I solely bought this car for it's looks and classic styling (like my 88 911 I just sold). But that's just me. Your millenium coupe sounds like a nice car too. Close your eyes and think about which car will float your boat the most, looks-wise. I guess it's a pro con list you might have to do. Good luck and pray for clear weather. I just drove mine home from Chicago after purchasing it and I prayed to the "clear sky gods" really hard. Only had a light flurry for an hour or so for the 12 hour drive. Nothing really bad. You'll have 4 wheel drive so you should be fine, unless it's awful out there. Pull over and get a hotel if it is! It's not worth wrecking your new baby. Let us know how it went!
