I've also decided that it will now be pampered and restored to it's former glory or improved and so I've also been replacing any interior parts which are worn either with OEM leather or plastic or carbon fibre.

I've decided to do something a bit different with the wheel centre caps and have also ordered an alcantara wheel which I'll use for the track.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

33 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well I've now owned my 2003 C4S for almost 10 years. It has been a reliable and faithful daily driver even had roof racks for a time, as the pics show. My kids complained about having to squeeze in the back but all love the car so didn't want me to get rid of it. I've always wanted to get it supercharged so I waited til it was out of warranty (which was 8 years!) and wasn't a daily driver in case something went wrong. People always told me to forget it and just buy a turbo but the 996C4S is my favourite porsche and I'd like to be able to blow the doors off the next WRX STi that tries to take me on. That time has come so I thought I'd share what I've been doing. It is currently in for a service and having the VF engineering v3 supercharger fitted which should see 475-490 Bhp, 500NM. I've also decided that it will now be pampered and restored to it's former glory or improved and so I've also been replacing any interior parts which are worn either with OEM leather or plastic or carbon fibre. It will also play on the track! The list of repairs/upgrades and improvements is: VF 475 supercharger kit software for 98 RON tuned with larger Bosch injectors. Vortech V3 SQ supercharger. Vortech Charge cooler. Bosch high flow water circulation system. Porsche OEM water radiator kit. Top speed governor removed. Bosch pressure relief bypass system. High temp moulded polymer pipe work K&N induction filter 19 inch custom wheels with bespoke 4S centres (being machined at moment, pic shows temporary ones) thicker smaller steering wheel with red stitching and alcantara airbag cover alcantara door handles and door pocket covers alcantara cover for centre console storage alcantara gear shift boot with red stitching silver dial surrounds with red surround for tacho red strip in dash from Eric at bumper plugs carbon horse shoe and centre console pieces carbon door sills custom 4S, side air con vents, sunroof/interior light panel, gear shifter, e brake, bose speaker covers, and many more replacement seat belt covers, bose logos and other minor pieces which became worn (including new dials on PCM2!) garage door mod x 2 for 2 separate garage doors spoiler dash button mod and finally a bespoke car cover from specialized covers in the UK (black with red piping and mirrors, colour porsche crest and carrera 4S logo) to keep it scratch free in the garage... I'll post a few pics as it is completed (still another week or so on the engine...) to see if I can inspire some others!

Here are the wheels - stage one (pre centres being finished)

POST 3Original post

joined in 2005 and only 13 postings. Are you for real?

POST 4Original post

More pics when you get them please! Looks like an interesting build would like to hear your thoughts on the supercharger after the install.

He's obviously a do'er and not a talker like most on here. Great job, can't wait to see how it turns out.

POST 7Original post

ouch right bellow the belt haha.

POST 8Original post

Awesome project. I'm thinking track usage means you might want to add a mod to the wet sump oil system to ward off oil starvation issues. Lots of talk on here about it, but I have no personal information to share. Great to see what you are up to. Keep us posted on the progress!

POST 10Original post

With all of the money you are allocating to the mods/upgrades I would take that and get a Stage 1 3.8 motor from Jake Raby. Just sayin...............

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 10521797

Huh? Exactly why is that? With the blower you're looking at 50 more hp over a 3.8 at less than half the cost and far less depreciation (Since you can sell the parts off)

POST 12Original post

Credit due for a Porsche owner to actually use and enjoy his car in so many ways. Sounds like an interesting project, keep us in the loop as you progress.

POST 13Original post

Can't wait to see the car go through the stages. It has a great history with you. And of course, congrats!

POST 14Original post

sounds like a fantastic project! Your car should be able to blow off the subaru even now, i have on more than one occasion! Looking forward to your build and your impressions driving! Pete

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the encouragement. No real pics for interior yet as I'm waiting for lots of parts from Germany, but here is the wheel, dials and sills.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh, and she's done 49000 miles. If I keep posting one bit of information per post that should get my numbers up....

POST 19Original post

Nice project, car is gonna rip with that much torque. Might as well get rid of the fwd and have a true widowmaker.

POST 20Original post

I am not trying to talk you out of supercharging it, and I don't know what its like in Australia, but in my bone stock 99' Carrera a Subaru STI is the least of the worries

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 10527238

He's in Australia mate. There are no "stock" STI's, Evo's, or GTR's down there. They got AWD dynos on practically every block compared to the US.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Centres fitted today. I think they did a great job.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

One of the parts supplied by VF for the supercharger is wrong and has to be sent back to the US to be remade. 2 week delay. Hard to be patient but no choice. Some carbon arrived from Germany is also below par so I have to send it back too. As a buddy of mine says, something always goes wrong with renovations....

POST 25Original post

It will be all worth it in the end, especially if done your way and to your standards.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

more than a month later and still no car...... everything is in but there is a fault triggered in the ABS whch they think may be related to the resistor they were told to put in for the supercharger.....the wait continues. wish i'd never started on the engine but interior going well...

POST 28Original post

Some people only post when they have something to say...

POST 29Original post

I love the three-spoke wheel with the thumb nubs. I should have pulled it out of my Boxster when I bought the 911...

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well it's finally done. Supercharger is in and the interior is complete. I've decided to do something a bit different with the wheel centre caps and have also ordered an alcantara wheel which I'll use for the track. The car feels brand new and power is amazing. The shocked look on the 996 turbo driver who tried to get away from me at the lights was priceless. As it turns out, once the car was worked on it needed a few new parts engine mounts and cardan shaft being the more significant. The combination of new cardan shaft and supercharger are so smooth it's hard to describe. It's the best the car has ever felt in 9 years of ownership. Driving it around town it feels completely stock, sounds stock except s slight jetlike sound and a 'woosh' when you back off as the air is sucked in. Can't wait to get it on the track. Here are some pics - will post better ones when I get time.

POST 31Original post

Wow, those are some sticky tires! Oh, wait, you are in Australia. No wonder... Seriously, congrats on the updates. Enjoy the car...
