One blonde girl ran past my car as I was at a junction with the top down.

To me, I drive a nice...used car with a body style that is classic.

No, you aren't because the red light means nothing to me when being approached by crazy, hope you can run fast chief.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Passing through Asheville from
Florida on way to In Der Bergen
Porsche meet in waynesville
Staying at the Sheraton car in
Open hotel parking
The note was a paragraph along the lines of ( do you think your so
Hot ?, your a dick ect ect)
I saw the guy from a distance
he was also staying at Sheraton
Desk manager refused to give me any info but, called police
He would not answer the police knock
I would have just let it go. Big deal......not like I do not get enough of every WRX or Honda...plus every other car passing me every day to make some kind of point that ruins my driving experience.
Now..besides that point...aviography....that is one awesome color!!!! Love it!!!!
One last thing:
Regardless of the house you live in, watch you wear, person you date, car you drive....somebody will hate it.
As long as they do not damage or destroy what you have worked for or the family you care for......it is all just an annoyance. To me, I drive a nice...used car with a body style that is classic. For the price I paid for it, hard to buy a new car now...granted, my 996 is not always my daily driver.
Yeah, it sounds like he is crazier than a sprayed roach -- I agree with the others, glad all he did was give you a taste of his upcoming manifesto, and not key your car or get even crazier.
I had an attractive woman this morning, at our local Starbucks, in a new Jeep 4by ask me, "...do you want to trade." I asked her if there was something wrong with her husband?
Lots of nuts on the world.
I remember many, many years ago I was sitting in traffic in my 86 911 just minding my own business and this dude in a Monte Carlo next to me says " you think your pretty special in that car huh" or something like that. I just looked at him and said "no, but apparently you do."
People have issues...
I hear ya. However, I always take it as a compliment and usually let them run past me. It's like I am in charge of my own little "Make A Wish Foundation".
That note would have freaked me out too. Too much thought went into making his "point". Glad both you and your car are ok.
please post the note if possible so we can all have a good laugh at it
you're lucky your car didn't get keyed, mine was! luckily not a bad one, i could just touch it up
ya that happened to me in underround parking lot with my 79sc.
guy left a note saying if he had a porsche he would keep it in his bedroom and he slashed my tire.
this was 10 years ago.
The cops showed up because someone left a misspelled "you're a dick" note on your car? The cops in CA won't show up unless you're bleeding from at least two distinct wounds.
I remember a couple of years ago, I was pulled over by the CHP on the 405 freeway
. Traffic was extremely heavy, so as several cars slowly passed me sitting in my car, one yelled out, "
Think your so hot in that fancy
Volkswagen
"
. I was honestly kind of startled by that and one or two others also made remarks that were less than complimentary. Oh well, some people really harbor bad feelings for our cars and other exotics
^^ One lawsuit that results in a $100K claim against your homeowners' insurance will take that urge out of you. People today start things, and then run to an attorney instead of finishing what they start. It's disgusting.
Once someone pulled up beside me when I had the top down at a traffic light & said "you think you're so cool just because of that car!"
I politely informed them I was this cool way before I owned this car & sped away.
I used to drive with the top down 50% of the time now it's about 5% so I can maintain some privacy.
Some vagrant at the stop light said "I'm going to get in that car with you" . No, you aren't because the red light means nothing to me when being approached by crazy, hope you can run fast chief.
I am a very flashy person. Wear lots of heavy gold and a classy watch and flash off my 996 whenever I can. I say **** the jealous people of this world. I used to be one of them, until I went out and bought what I really wanted. Do you think I am going to leave my heavy gold, finest watch and Porsche at home. No way. That's why I bought it in the first place. TO FLASH IT OFF. That way I don't have to give anyone the middle finger. My car, Gold and Watch does that for me hahaha. I get more admirers than haters. One blonde girl ran past my car as I was at a junction with the top down. She shouted "Nice car"... I shouted "thanks" and almost followed it up with the words "Nice ***" but that would have only cheapened the moment haha.

Try this one on for size, a guy canvassing the neighborhood to give out god pamphlets, walks right into my garage puts down his stuff and makes himself at home. He starts asking me about the car, at first I'm being polite. Then he asks me what I do for a living to afford such a car. That's when I went all "family member police" on him. I said, hey, this is private property, you rolled into my garage without an invite now you want my resume? Don't you think that is over the line"? Please leave, the sooner the better, not trying to be offensive but you don't belong here chief. Nothing more disconcerting than people making themselves at home in your shop, you feel like they are inventorying the place to hit it later. I mean comon' what is a guy from Louisiana doing selling god in NY anyway? Now I'm on high alert, last week a guy tried to get in the car with me!! Have people all lost their minds?
Now come on all you guys admit it. You are all posers to some degree. That's why you drive a Porsche in the first place. I like to add the gold and the Rolex and really sling **** at the plebeians out there . Come to think of it. I wonder what the poor folk are doing tonight .. haha
It sounds like these are some of the reasons you drive a Porsche but they have no nexus with my reasons. I started working in my dad's shop at age 7 picking up trash, I was solo driving by age 9 in the back lot. My father loved cars, he loved working on them as a profession and enjoyed driving his sports car in rallies. My love of the car is exclusive to the performance and design of the car. I don't make a big deal out of owning it, I do not use it as a ***** pry bar or a financial statement. In fact, some of my peripheral friends don't even know I have it.
PS The richest man I know you wouldn't pick from a line up, anyone who throws stones at the poor for an uplift is the ultimate poser. The content and quality of a human does not reside in their wallet. The gold inside the right person outshines the gold you drape yourself with every time. I am retired from a career in medicine, trust me on this, if you end up in a nursing home nobody is going to give a flying lizard what you drove or wore, it's the ultimate life equalizer and it would be good for every human to witness.
ditto
if i were a poser, everyday id cruise through town rather than taking the bypass (that has one nice uphill sweeping corner that I LOVE to take at a bit of speed)
in terms of these cars being ******* magnets that is bang on....and usually *** holes with huge trucks (truck nuts complete the scene). had one huge dodge diesel pull up beside me one day at a light. he was slightly ahead of me on my left. saw he kept looking back at me in his side view mirror, then would roll back a bit, check it out and roll back a bit more. i thought he was just trying to get a better view of the car. whatever. light turned green and i found out what he was really doing...lining up his dirty *** exhaust with my open window. filled my car with his black diesel soot as he punched it off the line. thats a demented ****er for ya!
I get the occasional diesel pick up truck driver that likes to give his truck lots of throttle in front of my car and have me drive into a cloud of diesel soot. The cabin air filter takes care of that.
In the mid-west during the winter a favorite of the dumb *** crowd was to upon approaching my Porsche swing over onto the middle line of the road and into the slush/ice that accumulated there and splash my car with it. Big deal.
I was more worried about the driver being drunk or losing control of his reject from a trailer park pick up truck when getting two tires onto the slick stuff.
WOW!!!! I could not have said it better myself. Thanks terbiumactivated
, My love for Porsche cars is only predicated on the pleasure they give me when I drive them, and the physical beauty of the vehicles
There are always jealous people out there, so my advice is just to ignore them. There is no point in getting worked up over them.
And for 996 being a status symbol in 2013? Perhaps to the uninformed and ignorant person. Most 996 cars are cheaper than a base
Hyundai Sonata
. I would say that most of us here drive 996 because it has the 911 heritage and because it offers a lot of car for little money.
I usually drive my 911 early in the morning when the conditions are best for driving - not the best time to be observed driving it. I bought it because it's the closest thing to a "supercar" I could afford, and it's one of the few that an amateur wrench can maintain. I bought it because _I_ think it's beautiful...I don't give much of a hot flying leap what other people think about it. I'm not operating under the delusion that it's an incredibly exclusive car.
Driving your Porsche to make others feel less fortunate is one of the most douchey things I have ever seen on the Internet, and that's saying a lot.
I've often wondered if the negative comments are related JUST to the car, or are more general road-rage stuff over people who feel like they've been cut off, etc? If not you, someone else in the area with a similar car they might be projecting their anger over? Don't want to jinx myself, but I drive with the top down probably 75% of the time and drive pretty damned aggressively, to the point where I'm sure I've pissed SOMEONE off... But I've only ever received positive comments.
That may be you projecting; I personally don't think I'm impressing anyone with a porsche that's worth less than a new 3 series. Truth in life is that actual wealth is inversely proportional to the person's propensity to display it; you won't fool too many with gold accessories and retail watches.
Actually kind of a neat story on the topic from couple weeks back: one of the neighbors of my girlfriend's parents are really well off (net worth in the 9s of figures) and apparently the wife makes a habit of buying knockoff Prada handbags - her explanation is that she really likes their designs and everyone knows how much they're worth, so she doesn't really need to prove to anyone she can spend $10K on leather goods. I found that whole notion novel in its veracity.
I'm having a hard time believing you are serious or not. If there is one thing I hate about my Porsche it's the attention that is draws, sometimes I wish it would disappear into the background (having a silver car helps a little bit). I hope you're just joking and I'm bit slow on the uptake. I thought Porsches along with the gold and flash was a 70s-80s stereotype that died years ago.
I try to drive conservatively when in the Porsche (not always easy). If you accidently cut somebody off in a regular car, people think: "Jerk cut me off". When you're in your Porsche people will say: "A$$hole in the Porsh cut me off" and it tends to linger in their memory a bit longer.
I've learned much since I
Posted about Z Hater Note
First of all , I now know (Why)
He did it after reading the reply from the guy with gold chains and Rolex
The note writer must have thought I was also a gold chain/Rolex wearing , status
Symbol needing guy ?
To be clear, I'm a Sebring
and Daytona race fan and
Love to DYI
My DD is a F-150
Thanks for all the great posts
People don't hate porsche drivers based on whether or not they own a rolex and enjoy flashing it, nor do such people restrain themselves because you like to DYI and drive an F150. Obviously they know nothing about the driver; their problem is between their ears.
Years ago a mentor said "when you get mad, ask questions." Terrific advice that's impossible to follow on the road, but I've been to the rodeo enough times to know that as often as not when I get super pissed at someone and have the opportunity to find out what's going on with them, almost always I feel a lot less angry. So when a truck cuts me off or when some Camry shoots me the double-bird for going slightly faster than he, or when some Prius driver plants herself in the left lane going EXACTLY the same speed as the car in the right for MILES and clearly doing it ON PURPOSE, I just like to imagine what's going on in their lives. Maybe their beloved child is dying of cancer right now. *** cancer. On their face. And when I finally do get past them I smile and wave and hope their miserable day gets slightly better or something. Whatever, I'm happy as HELL in my 911, so ttfn.
Of course I also like to imagine people walking the way they drive. "What's this? Someone walking slightly faster than me? Oh HELL no!" or "FFS, a JOGGER?! On THIS sidewalk? Box out!" or even "You know what I hate? Pinstriped slacks. The next person I see wearing pinstriped slacks is going to hear about it, too. I'll knock that slack-wearing SOB right into a starbucks, and not in a good way."
On the other hand a few months ago a guy tried to drive his truck into my car...twice. After the first time I scooted way ahead of him, through several stop lights, and into a a more residential area. Looked up and here comes bozo, 100 mph down a city street. Pulled up next to me and did it again, drove his truck into my lane right on top of me, forcing me to brake hard. I called 911 and said some nitwit is trying to kill me and was reading his plate # to the operator when we got caught at a stoplight. He got out of his truck and started coming at me, so I said "he's out of his truck and coming at me. I'm drawing my weapon." Next thing you know, he's got a .45 pointed at him. He reconsidered his course of action, got back in his truck and left. I filled out a police report and fin. Moral of the story is that it's a lot easier and safer to laugh at the other ******* on the road and hope his kid gets over that *** cancer than it is to deal with a dude who has a .45 pointed at you: be careful what fights you choose to escalate. If someone puts a note on your car, post it here and we'll all laugh, but be cautious about meting out street justice.
A guy in a big Chevy pickup pulled up next to me at a red light yesterday. I had my top down. He said, "that almost looks like fun, except for the heat". I said it was fun, and I had my A/C on to keep me cool. He chuckled and said that he was on his gold wing and pulled next to a gal in a Miata and she asked him why he didn't get a Miata - said he didn't think he'd enjoy driving a car that couldn't go fast. I said I didn't have that problem, light turned green and he was 10 car lengths behind me in a matter of seconds...
