Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. Here's a tip from someone who has been around the block a few times - once you buy something, stop checking prices.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I cant believe this 2007 997 is listed for the same price mine was a year ago. This seems like a potential great deal for someone. $34,500 ???????
FIXED LINK!

I think I fixed link.
But its a 2007! Mine was listed for more than the 2007 originally but eventually got them down to $31,000. Man wished I would have waited.
you could say that all day long about any porsche less than 10 yrs old - ALL OF THEM ARE DROPPING DAILY. i was sooo close to pulling the trigger a yr ago for C4S and best i found were around $30k, and now i think it's probably closer to $25-28k(unless super low miles and lots of options). i think you should just enjoy the C4S and wait for either 997.2 or 991. if you change to 997 now, there's a good chance that you'll repeat your quote "man wished i would have waited"...maybe.

I would bet that's a salvage car. There was another on pelican for low, low 30s that needed a new bumper. I guess if you don't want any options, that's a away to do it. No leather interior = meh.
Event though my car is pretty heavily optioned I didn't care about any options at the time I was buying because if I did I would have bought a lexus. I bought it for the pure enjoyment of the drive of a Porsche. That said I don't think that price is real even for a low optioned 997, most likely its salvage or a flood car from the east coast.
It was bought from a Chevrolet dealer in 2012 and no mention of being a salvage. I know a dealer will keep it on the lot for 3 months but to dump it at an auction for $28,000 seems strange.
Mine had a similar story and was about to be auctioned but I didnt get the deal this guy did. Amazing.
Crazy you have the worst case of buyer's remorse I've ever seen??
I bought a new 2004 Mercedes ML350 for $41K. I CAN'T GET $18k FOR IT NOW??? I wish I waited.
Its not buyers remorse, its more "I cant believe Porsche used this engine" remorse.
I think by 2007 the grenade issue was down from 10% to 1% but who knows.
great price but fuzzy pictures doesn't tell much. also the car is daily driven judging by mileage
i was also interested in buying a 996 C4S. glad i didn't. dropped $3k in less than a year. i bought an e46 M3 instead for 1/2 the price. it hasn't depreciated one bit.
Here's a tip from someone who has been around the block a few times - once you buy something, stop checking prices. If you keep looking, you're in for nothing but aggravation.
I agree, but I can't help it anyway. So, it's confirmed that the above car (thread-starter) has been wrecked? Otherwise, seems like a phenomenal price.

Here's one to ck out...no affiliation.
This is asking price, so good chance it will sell for mid $30k.

+1000 - a lot of kibitzing about 996 values as of late;
I am glad that when I bought mine I had a mindset that they were a pure expense and I keep myself somewhat sane by rationalizing that it is simply the annualized cost of pure enjoyment. The longer I keep them the cheaper the fun gets.
Just imagine if this was a "how much did I pay for my house" forum.
A lot of good advice I think we're getting away from the fact that the car that is serviced and taken care, with a good history(low ownership, accident free etc)is a lot more important especially with these cars the 996 despite all the talk about IMS /RMS and other internet hyped issues, is a very solid vehicle. I also love the 997 however like one of the earlier post stated you cant get one generally for the same $ unless theres some issues(accident, salvage, very high mileage etc) listen its a cliche at this point i realize , but if its to good to b true(especially in the porsche world) buyer beware! Good luck!
