Make sure to check the rail areas in the engine bay for any bends, lift up the frunk floor carpet to make sure there are no wrinkles on the floor area, have the alignment checked just to make sure it is aligned to factory specs.

I got it inspected & I checked it out on lift we couldn't find anything replaced or wrong with it.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

in the market for 996. I found 2 that im interested in one 03 C4S with the carbon pkg. blk/blk 36k miles. I love the color and the carbon but its has an accident on carfax. ive had it inspected cant find any issue with it I feel confident with purchase and I think its priced accordingly. the other is 01 turbo polar silver with blue interior(which im not crazy about) with 46k miles. my ?? is there more value in the turbo even though im not in love with color combo. or will I be happy with the C4S as much as turbo. its my first Porsche so any help I really appreciate
if you want real get up and go then go for the turbo. If not go for the color combo you like. Both great low mileage for the years. Is the turbo a 4 wheel drive? Some drivers prefer the 4 wheel. I never had one so don't know on that score. Without looking into it as far a more value in turbo etc. I don't know but that's the one I would go for especially if it a C2.
All 996 Turbo's are 4wd.
My advice - it depends on what you're going to use the car for.
Ever going to track it? Get the turbo. Use it for Sunday drives, DD or normal street use, get the car that cosmetically is to your liking.
The turbo will cost more to maintain.
It's a 2nd car for me. How much more $$ to maintain. They both right now are up to date on all service. I don't keep cars for long so I think the turbo is better value. The C4S is @ $37 & the turbo is $42 I know it's not a huge difference in price so the C4S is in a little nice shape not by much it's just that accident on carfax that is bothering me. I think it might be an error on carfax but all my research I can't figure it out without owning it then finding out the seller doesn't care about finding out
Insurance will be higher on the turbo. You'll have as much fun on the track with a C4S, so don't let that sway you. The C4S is damn fast (175 top end) and has great pickup. But if you do want to hit 185+ MPH somewhere, go with the turbo ( tongue in cheek)...
the main issue is the C4S has an accident on the carfax. if i ever decide to sell it i will have trouble with sale. i think it is priced accordingly and it checked out ok. am i being too hung up on an accident if it is the one i want? thanks everyone for all the feedback
Mine had accident listed on car fax, was a rear bumper replacement, so I wasn't too concerned, the car is for me, not the next guy... Make sure there isn't any residual damage, proper documented repairs, and talk them down another grand :-)
That's the problem nobody has any documentation on accident just carfax says with other motor vehicle called dealer that did service & they got no info of accident at all I was gonna try auto check. The current owner has no info either & didn't really care when he purchased it. I got it inspected & I checked it out on lift we couldn't find anything replaced or wrong with it. Is that a good price for that car? Asking $38 might be able to get it for $36.5/37
If you really like it and it checks out, get it. Me personally, I would get a higher mileage turbo at that price.
Make sure to check the rail areas in the engine bay for any bends, lift up the frunk floor carpet to make sure there are no wrinkles on the floor area, have the alignment checked just to make sure it is aligned to factory specs. Good Luck.
OP, you keep stressing on the accident.. Which to me, means you should pass.... and if the Turbo isn't the color combo you want time to pass on that too!! Keep looking there are plenty of 996s out there...
Thanks for the input everyone..I guess the price point is an issue also turbos are out there but they are either really high $$ or high miles at my price. That's why the C4S is appealing to me. Thanks for all the help everyone
Turbo. all day long. I have the metropol blue interior on my car and while it isn't my favorite interior color(I have no favorite 996 interior color), it does make the car a bit more different than the traditional Silver/black cars.
is the dark blue interior a rare color(not sure name) also is that a desireable color. also what is a fair price for an 01 turbo all service done with 48k miles. its kind of alot of miles for me but i think thats for my price point thats whats im looking at. thanks everyone
