Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know how many 13 oz. cans would be required to paint 4 alloy wheels? I only need to do the outside of the wheel and I figure I will do three light coats per wheel.

POST 2Original post

I recently did my Jeep wheels with satin black, 2 coats then touched it up and it took about 2 1/2 (15oz) cans. Hopefully this will give you a little perspective.

POST 3Original post

I did my wheels this spring. I did multiple light coats (at least 3) and I still have about 1/2 the 12oz can left. More complex wheel design would require more I imagine but I cant see needing more than 2 cans

POST 4Original post

I have to admit, I did lay it on there pretty heavy.

Are you getting the paint at the Pelican site?

Autogeek is only about 50 miles away, so ground shipping is both fast and cheap. However, I also ordered something called Spray Max 2K for the clear coat from Eastwood. The Spray Max looked interesting as it is a two-part epoxy clear system in a spray can. My hope is that it will provide a more resilient coat over the paint.

POST 7Original post

After spray painting, follow up with Wurth GL Clear Laquer Spray Paint (art. # 0893 351 930-U). relinuca

POST 8Original post

Prep is the key step. I didnt strip mine, but put a scuff pad on a buffer and went over each wheel thoroughly. Then wiped each one down with rubbing alcohol. I followed up with Wurth Clear Laquer. It came out more as a matte finish, but its not noticeable unless you look very closely. If you are doing the wheels pictured in your avatar I bet it would hide it any imperfections even better After about 8K miles they still look fresh
