Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Did they check the alignment on the PPI, I doubt it, so have you checked it since because you can run through a set or a tire quickly if it is misaligned.
Leading evidence: 'Check alignment' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check alignment' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

We just had a heavy downpour here in Houston, and I remember reading someone here writing (I paraphrase) "If you like driving your 911 in good weather you'll LOVE driving it in the rain" so I decided to run an errand during the middle of it.

No exaggeration: I put about 1000 miles on the car during the week of the 4th "running errands".

I drew that on my iPad using the free Adobe drawing app.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, I'll be goddammed if they didn't speak Truth. The traction this car has is just wild, even on slick roads. Of course I'm still in that phase during which my jaw hasn't left the floor and every errand is an opportunity for a drive. No exaggeration: I put about 1000 miles on the car during the week of the 4th "running errands".
Um...behold my contribution to the Rennlist body of knowledge. Carry on.
Oh KrazyK, you so crazy.
The tires are the Hanook whatchamajiggers....Ventus V12 evo. The (Toyota) dealer said the car passed their 900-point super inspection. The PPI said the rear tires failed - worn out on the inside. So brand new tires on the rear. I am doing my best to make sure the tires wear evenly...
RE: cab, maybe, no I'm definitely prejudiced. My father had an MG midget back in the early 80s and my memory of convertibles is LOUD AND COLD. Not that the cabin noise in the Coupe is negligible, but damn, it's gotta be exhausting in a cab.
Thanks guys. Everyone was all "hey you know what would be awesome? if we all went 45 on the freeway, that's what" and I was all "out of my way, bitches!"
KK: Man, not everyone waits for a 70-degree day @ 40% humidity to drive their 996 (in your case, to the auto parts store to buy oil and a filter...) - heh. Lighten up!
To OP: Rain + 911 can equal backwards-in-a-ditch if you don't mind your Ps and Qs. Enjoy responsibly, my friend...sounds like an awesome drive!
Thanks. Love that drawing you have in your autosig - sauce?
With regard to minding Ps and Qs, I do - I'm so far from pushing this car it's ridiculous. But now that you mention it I did *almost* put a date's 924 in a ditch in the rain once, and I really can't complain about how the evening ended, so you point is invalid.
Brand new 9500xi delivered before butt hit leather. In all honesty, I don't push it hard at all, I just don't necessarily go 30 in a 65 because the sky is spitting a little bit.
Thanks! I was pretty happy with it. I was sitting around thinking about the 911's shape (probably after watching Jeremy Clarkson complain about how they all look alike) and trying to create a caricature of some of those lines.
Aw HELL no. That's why we had the PPI done.
I made up the 900 point inspection. Point is that they were all super swearsies that the car was awesome - their TOP MEN had looked at it. And then the PPI failed the tires.
Having said that, the same PPI guys (Eurocar Werks in Houston) were pretty wow'ed by the car's condition otherwise. It's near mint, but I'm working hard to rag it out.
All 911's are hard on the rear tires , usually to the tune of 2X wear versus the fronts. However wearing from the inside out can indicate an alignment problem. Did they check the alignment on the PPI, I doubt it, so have you checked it since because you can run through a set or a tire quickly if it is misaligned.
Thanks for the suggestion. They checked the alignment. The car's stock camber is designed for aggressive cornering, and to prevent throttle-lift oversteer, no? Pretty sure I've read about that here at rennlist, too - inside wear on the rears is best mitigated by getting the outsides down as often as possible.
Hey, Leejo, welcome aboard. I like your style. your 'new to Porsche' experience echoed mine from about 16 months ago. In one year, I put about 18K miles on it. My old BMW GS motorcycle is relegated to city errands where parking is a problem (in SF).
I have a TTx50 cab, and I love it. For anything over a 3 block trip and over 50 degF, that top goes down quicker than Kate Upton's. It's all year cab weather here in SF -- not too hot and not too cold.
The thing that I really love about the TT is for deailing with those asshats who do go slow in the left lane when there's a car to the right of them and then speed up to prevent passing when it's clear. Downshift, and there's really not many that will not be passed by me (always using turn signals of course ;-).
Again, welcome!
