Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been noticing an exhaust noise that has progressively got worse over time. It isn't exactly a rattle, more of a "purr" but not a good one. It sounds similar to a friends BMW 335 when he was having issues with his exhaust valve getting noisy. It's very noticeable backing into my garage, or driving away from a stop. It's starting to become apparent during in gear deceleration. I'd also compare the noise to flywheel chatter, but with a mechanics stethoscope I can tell its definitely coming from what seems like the mufflers (one a little worse than the other)
I read that when the baffles in the exhaust start to go bad they can make a rattle noise similar to what I'm experiencing. My plan is to bring the car to an exhaust shop to cut open the mufflers, and re- weld or remove whatever is loose if that's what the problem is. Before I do that I was seeing if anyone else had similar symptoms and how they solved it.

Engine mounts replaced yesterday
Trans mounts were still fine (IMS bearing job completed only a few months ago)
Water pump has also been replaced somewhat recently.
The sound is almost definitely coming from the exhaust, just have to diagnose where.
FPB111 - read through that thread, thanks. After reading through that I'm going to have to lean towards some parts in the mufflers being loose. I've heard cats going bad, and the type of rattle that's associated, and this is a little different.
