Leading evidence: 'Install gmg rear swaybar and droplinks' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'bit nutty' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install gmg rear swaybar and droplinks' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Whereas the front bar was really close to the control arm and I couldn't shorten the droplink anymore, I am running about 1mm of clearance on the rear sway bar and rear control arm with the drop link at pretty much full length.

The rear bushings were tight in the stock brackets but when installed in the correct orientation they fit enough to be forced into place when you tightened the screws on the bracket.

I think the root cause is the bushings and bushing brackets.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After installing a GMG front swaybar and tarrett droplinks, I did a track day at FIRM here in Florida. I've been experiencing some front end noise that sounded like it could be droplinks so I put the car up on a chassis lift. Everything was tight but there was some evidence of contact between the control arms and the swaybar. I took some pictures of how little clearance there is at full droop. Setting was one from full stiff. I changed the setting by one hole to the middle setting.
I am still getting some noise, but it also seems to be steering related or occasionally when braking. I am fearful that it may be strut mounts as the steering seems tight and the steering rack tie rods and tie rod ends seem tight as well.
So first of all did I install these things right? If they were flipped around the other way, there is no way that the tarrett droplinks would be short enough to fit. Right now they are at basically full short.
my gt3 sway are pretty close to the lower control arm as well. may be a tad more clearance but still pretty close and it worried me plenty when I first put them in there, but they were fine.
the sway moves up and down with the LCA so it should not be a problem... I think
I typed a response a few days ago, but for some reason it's not in the thread. Anyway, I was pointing out that you can't tell much with the suspension at full droop. You need to have the suspension loaded to see when things are or aren't contacting. That said, it looks a little close for my comfort.
Update guys. Noise was getting worse so this morning I completely removed the swaybar. I think the control arm link bushing might be bad as it is really easy to move by hand. I added a separate thread but here are some pics.
The swaybar shows a few minor rub points but no signs of major contact. I've also made completely sure all the drop link hardware is tight and it still was when I uninstalled this morning.
I think the root cause is the bushings and bushing brackets. The ID (inner diameter) of the stock bushing bracket is too small for the OD (outer diameter) of the bushings. This causes the bushing gap used to install the bushing on the bar to not fully close. Furthermore it puts the whole bar/bushing/bracket assembly under compression, which restricts bar rotation. It also places stress on the plate bracket that bolts under the swaybar and onto the chassis and control link bushing.
Somewhat related other update/clarification:
The locknuts only show a few threads on the end when using the stock swaybar. The GMG unit's end blades are thicker, so the threads are only flush. Because it is a nylon locknut, as long as the threads penetrate the nylon it's okay. It is torqued down though.
Replacement of the stock FSB has cured the noise issue at least for now.
I installed the GMG rear swaybar and droplinks. The rear bushings were tight in the stock brackets but when installed in the correct orientation they fit enough to be forced into place when you tightened the screws on the bracket. The stock and GMG bushings are shaped the same (non-symmetrical), but the slit in the GMG bushing is on the opposite side of the stock.
Whereas the front bar was really close to the control arm and I couldn't shorten the droplink anymore, I am running about 1mm of clearance on the rear sway bar and rear control arm with the drop link at pretty much full length. I have 8-9 threads showing.
I think the GMG setup is really intended for lower ride heights and GT3s. I would have PSS10's already if it weren't for my autocross rule set. We'll see how she handles with stock FSB and the rear set on the 3/4 stiff. Probably a bit nutty.
