Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Much like booking a vacation for the first week of low season...when the same room is 1/2 price that it was the previous week!!!

it needs to have ims/rms/clutch, as well as valve cover gasket, but looks clean overall.

The previous owner of 6 years only had it serviced at the dealership....heck, he even had them changing bulbs for him!

I will change it if I ever have to change the clutch, but considering the clutch was only done 30K miles ago that won't be any time soon.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone. I've been searching for the right 996 for quite a while now. Well what do you know, a week before heading off on vacation, when I was browsing the Autotrader a very nice 2002 C4S came on the market in Portland...not too far from me. After a PPI and many phone conversations I'm glad to say I'm the proud new owner.
I've had two previous P-Cars, a 2001 Boxster S and an '89 944S, so it's nice to be back into one after a break of about 4 years. I sold the Boxster when I went back to grad school to get my MBA, and at the same time our son went to University...so a bit of liquid capital was needed.
Any way, back to the car. It's a two owner, seal gray, sport seats, full leather car with 80K miles. Always serviced at the dealer, and has had a clear bra covering all of the major areas from day one. Needless to say that it's clean. In addition the second owner had a new gearbox and clutch fitted at 50K miles because of a gear change issue. I've driven quite a few of these over the years and this gear change is the best I've experienced.
I thought the mileage was a little high for me but realized I was really disappointed to miss a recent Seattle car with 74K miles that sold for quite a few thousand more than I paid for this. So all in all I think I got a good deal.
Looking forward to learning more about the car and everyone around here.
I know it's a must to post pics on an intro so here you go...
Congrats! Looks stunning. Don't let the mileage bother you as you are most likely better off with a car that has driven - and this one looks to have been obviously very well cared for.
Drive it and smile.
Sounds very similar to me (and probably several others on here) - previously had a Pcar, sold it, then returned to the fold after a long, long search for the right car. But, the search is half the fun! Looks like you got a fantastic car. Would agree with Silo that the mileage is fine - it's going on 14 years old and you don't want a garage queen for this model of car. In the couple of months I've had mine, I've already done several minor mods and am very pleased with how easy these cars are to work on. On one mod (aux input cable for MP3/ipod), my 17 year old son was laughing at me because i was mad that it only took me 15 minutes to do the whole thing. So, get to modding and make the car uniquely yours!
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. The mileage doesn't bother me on this car because like you said it has been taken care of. The previous owner of 6 years only had it serviced at the dealership....heck, he even had them changing bulbs for him!
I found that cars in the 60K - 70K mileage range are classed as low miles and command a real high asking price, so being a 80K car is a great compromise in my opinion. Much like booking a vacation for the first week of low season...when the same room is 1/2 price that it was the previous week!!! haha!
Off to clean the wheels before this temperature ramps up!
congrats.
i sold my last p-car ten yrs ago ('89 cab) when daughter was born, and been itching for stick shift, esp c4s. currently driving a 2006 CLK55AMG cab and it's GREAT, but do miss the manual.
for the past yr, i've been looking at MANY, and this week i found one that i'm close to pulling trigger.
it needs to have ims/rms/clutch, as well as valve cover gasket, but looks clean overall.
p.s. i'm assuming your dealer svc'd c4s already had upgraded ims/rms?
Patrick
No, car still has original IMS. I will change it if I ever have to change the clutch, but considering the clutch was only done 30K miles ago that won't be any time soon.
Great color
Mileage is relative..maint is far more important.
Mines at 94K and runs like a top. Trip home last week I avg 27-28mpg at 75mph with air temp of 90deg and A/C on.
They are made to be driven
I agree maintenance is the important thing with these cars and they are made to be driven...that's why mines a DD.
Your consumption is the same as mine on the freeway...constantly getting 19.6 mpg around town as well. Much better mpg than my wife's X3!!
