Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

The pressures are good, the low pressure is warm and the high pressure pipe is very cold (or whichever way round they are ment to be!) but still not cold air in the cabin.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I was wondering if any one else has had a similar problem? I have a 2000 996 c2 and had the front condensers replaced and all was working well up untill about a week ago! I was driving back and noticed that every now and again I would get a waft of warm air but it would then work fine again. I finished my journey and then got back in the car a couple of hours later I got back in and the air con was warm (although the compressor was still running) I thought maybe it was a gas issue, so had the car re-gassed and everything is working corectly, I just still have no cold air!!! The pressures are good, the low pressure is warm and the high pressure pipe is very cold (or whichever way round they are ment to be!) but still not cold air in the cabin. If you turn the aircon off then the air does get a bit warmer so I don't know if this is a broken flap or similar? Any help would be much appreciated!

POST 2Original post

Sounds like the distribution flap inside the air blower is not working correctly so it's allowing air to pass through the heater core.

POST 3Original post

Try the system in MAX cooling, COLD position, that should bypass any defective sensors and drive the reheat/remix door/vane into the fully closed position.

POST 4Original post

Maybe the diverter flap is shot. Have you ever had black foam bits fly out of the vents? Even if not this DIY shows a way to look at it from the trunk. If so there is a good DIY on Renntech http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutor...the-procedure/ "The flap/door that controls the regulation of air between the AC evaporator and heater core is a piece of galvanized metal with large holes in it. Then it is covered in foam...." "the foam coming out of the air ducts in fact comes from the flap/door for the temperature mix. Mine was 90% gone. Therefore the door was a piece of swiss cheese with large holes and useless for controlling air flow between the hot and cold sides. Turning on the AC or heat allowed air to travel right through the door and the door was basically ineffective. Why I didn't have AC issues this summer is unknown but I'm sure my fix will have me impressed next summer! If you are losing foam in large quantities I bet you have lost your heating or cooling efficiency...or you may not know it yet due to current ambient temps!"

POST 5Original post

Sometimes when the ignition switch is starting to fail it will cause electrical problems like this. A new one cost $12 - $350 dollars depending on where you get it.
