Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just put a new entertainment/audio system into my 2003 C2. So, do I keep this old OEM radio , CD holder, and amp? Sell it? Throw it away? Is there any chance that someone would want to reinstall it to bring the car back to "original" form? Thanks in advance for your advice!

POST 2Original post

Keep! I was about to toss/give away all my old equipment 5 years ago, when I upgraded. Now, I have my eye on a Ferrari 360, and if I pull the trigger, will put the OEM components back in.

POST 3Original post

Please let me know if you decide to get rid of it. They would be a great upgrade from my circa 1999 cassette player!

POST 4Original post

Keep for sure. Any future buyer that prefers originality will appreciate it!

+1. I just sold my BMW and the buyer insisted on having the original stereo, even though it no longer worked. What year was the car? 1987 .

I ebaye mine for $375 for the cdr, cd storage

POST 7Original post

Did your car have the Bose upgrade before you put the clarion in?

POST 8Original post

I upgraded to a Double DIN unit a while back and kept everything in case the next buyer wants it. If not, it will go on eBay.

POST 9Original post

When I upgraded my 1970 911S Blaupunkt radio to a Cassette player ~1985 I kept the old radio in case I needed it for originality. Couple years ago I came across the old radio while cleaning up in the cellar. I posted it FS on Pelican and sold it for $100 to someone doing a restoration. Point is if you installed something better there is a good chance next owner won't want to go back to "tubes." So unless you keep it for 25 years, or someone can use it to upgrade what they have now, it probably isn't going to do you much good and it will just take up storage space. Pass it on, work a deal with sjg1138

POST 10Original post

That stereo is so much more user friendly than the 220. lol

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the input, guys. Hmmmm... excellent points made by all of you. A great bunch here on Rennlist! Poop. Now I still can't decide. My ride is unlikely to ever be purchased by a classic restoration type guy. It's an '03 C2 with Tiptronic. [Digression: Personally... I love the Tip and specifically wanted a car with it... I use the car as a daily driver... I am typically driving around from company to company holding my GoogleMaps printout in one hand, looking for these dang places. And, plenty of stop and go freeway driving too. A manual tranny, while way more fun for pleasure driving, is a PITA for work use. It's also why I needed '02 or later model... needed the cup holders for my morning coffee!!!!] I'm in the process of a major "de-clutter my life," so the thought of these old radio pieces taking up space for an unknown number of years for an unknown future buyer isn't sounding too attractive. Does that logic make sense? That the buyer of a 996 with Tip would unlikely be the same sort that would care if parts are all OEM? Really? $375? I guess it's really good I didn't go for the "toss it" option. BTW, Here's before and after pix of the upgrade:

POST 12Original post

You can Ebay it or post to 964, 993, 944, 924, 928 message boards. Those guys are looking to update their single DIN cassette players to something "Porsche OEM", but don't necessarily want to pay for a new Becker.

POST 13Original post

After cutting the to fit a double Din it won't be easy to go back to OEM. So I ebayed mine, i still have CD tray if anyone interested.

POST 14Original post

Post the CDR-220's on the 928 board the guys there love them. They match their interior perfectly.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good tips from all of you, thanks... much appreciated! I think that for now I will put them in a box in the garage.

POST 16Original post

As an FYI, the unit Cuda911 has is a CDR-23 which uses the MOST fiber optic bus. It would not be compatible with any of the older cars. It could only go into another MOST equipped car. I think you are making the right decision to hold onto it for when you do sell the car.

POST 17Original post

Oh yea we do!!! They look GREAT in 928's!

POST 18Original post

If like other Beckers, the MOST is if you want to use an external amp or Aux in. It still has regular speaker terminals (by that I mean regular conductive metal, you still need the funky Blaupunkt/Becker DIN connector with leads) for the 4x18w internal amp.
