Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've been doing some research on fixing / replacing but so far havent come up with much.
Leading evidence: 'Replace but so far havent come up' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace but so far havent come up' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After months of research and looking for my ideal 996 I finally found it.
1999 911 C2 Cabriolet, Six speed in Guards Red with 49,000 miles. Compared to dozen or so other Cabriolets I looked at this one was well optioned with:
18-inch Premium Sport Design Rims, wood trim interior, stainless steel tailpipes, GPS / navigation system, windstop, CD changer
It was also very clean and had loads of maintenance documentation. For $23k i am very happy with my purchase. This is my first German car since my 2001 Mercedes S500. I'm looking forward to doing some detailing

Love the look! I'm like you, I moved from MB ('89 560SL) to an '01 C4 Cab. First thing I noticed was that my favorite drive took a lot less time.
Drive it like you stole it!
I pick it up Monday night and will post some pics then. It does have some cracks in the wood trim on top of the dash along the windshield. I've been doing some research on fixing / replacing but so far havent come up with much.
@tradecraft1 - Yay! Another red 911
Congratulations on the car. Good specs for the money.
@kcattorney - I'd wanted a black 996 when I was scouting for one, but I've never regretted the red - its still stunning! My previous 911 ('86 3.2 coupe) was white, and I loved that colour too
